He's Whipped
I choked out, coughing against the thick, acrid smoke filling the air.
He rolled off me, giving me room to breathe. I scrambled to my feet, my knees shaking violently. The fog in my mind had entirely cleared, shocked away by the sheer trauma of the explosion, but my connection to my wolf was still terrifyingly absent. I was entirely vulnerable in a burning, ruined forest.
"Look out!" I shrieked, my eyes widening.
The explosion had severely compromised the integrity of the ancient tree we had used for cover. With a sickening, splintering groan, the massive tree began to tilt, its heavy, flaming branches pivoting directly toward his blind spot.
