_Zephyr’s POV_ Smoke filled my nose, the air was hot and dry, and every breath burned like it was trying to scrape the inside of my throat. I coughed and stumbled, managing to stand up to my feet and dragging Elias with one arm. His weight leaned heavily on me, and my body screamed in pain, but I couldn’t stop now. The fire was chasing us, cracking through dry leaves, snapping branches, and roaring louder with every second. If we stopped, it would swallow us whole and kill us here.

“Wow!” Blame couldn’t count how many times she exclaimed that word, but she deemed it right to utter it with her eyes widening and lips curving. The lane ahead of them was so narrow. It was filled with lavender’s petals, puffing out purplish-blue smoke. It’s slithering up to the jumbo-rooted trees, which gave life to the rainbow-colored leaves, dancing merrily in the air around them. Inhaling the smoke, a sweetly-scented fragrant wafted Blame’s nose. It went down to her system, and she felt her energy boosted.

Pushing his hand away, I run straight into the smoke. The smoke thickens at first. Snare had made sure that it would be impossible for me to bring a Lycan. The more I walked, the smoke began to thin. Chapter Nine ~ Aspen ~ I moved through the trees quickly, coughing as smoke snaked its way into my lungs.
