It was Jagger who told him bit sternly that he can only take one toy to table for dinner and then he can arrange his things in the bedroom. And he can play tomorrow. It just popped out." Leo watched me, his tear-stained eyelashes fluttering. He didn't pull away when I sat down cross-legged on the floor in front of him. I aligned the tiny wooden axle and pressed the wheel back into place with a soft *snap*. I held the truck out to him on my palm, giving him a small, encouraging smile. "See? All fixed. Good as new."

Toby said, holding up a box with an old car on it. “That’s great…..what is it?” I asked him. “It’s a 1956 Chevy car. Dad and I are going to build it after dinner,” Toby smiles and sits in the box beside him. “Not if you didn’t finish your homework,” Mama tells him. He nods. “I finished my homework when I got home after school and I played video games for a while,” Toby told her. “Okay. But not too long,” Mama tells papa and Toby. “Hey,” Dominic said, taking a seat next to me and kissing my cheek.

Mommy had infected poor Miss Carla with her laughing virus too. I went to sit with my friends, Tommy and Eli, and they were already talking about dinosaurs. Tommy had brought a new Triceratops toy, and it looked awesome. “Whoa! Look at those horns!” I said, grabbing it to check out. Tommy grinned. “My dad got it for me yesterday.”

I wrapped my arms around him, holding him tight against my chest. The leather pants were discarded on the floor of the truck, stained and ruined. The money was in my pocket. We had won the hand. But the game was far from over. "Let's go home, Daddy," Toby whispered. "Yeah," I said. "Let's go home."

Kendrick opened the car door, letting Nathan see the exquisite toy inside. It instantly captured Nathan's attention. He looked at Francis holding him and then at the robot, contemplating. Kendrick smiled upon seeing this. He didn't believe Francis could beat Nathan's favorite toy. Finally making up his mind, Nathan hugged Francis' neck and shook his head. "Daddy, you can leave the toy there. I'll play with it later when I go home." Then, he hugged Francis' neck affectionately, leaving Kendrick and his toy. Kendrick watched in astonishment as the red Ferrari sped away.

Instead, he moved into a unit near my apartment. One day, I had just stepped out of the office tower when fireworks exploded across the sky and formed a gigantic, glittering heart.
