He opened up his arms for Zoey, and without wasting any second, Zoey ran towards him. “Would you want an ice cream?” That was a simple question that made Zoey quickly stop sobbing. As soon as she nodded, Wade wiped her tears with his thumb and lifted her up. And again, I was left with my mouth parted open in disbelief and rejection. I watched Wade’s broad figure vanish from my sight when Evan’s tap on my thigh brought me back. I looked down at him holding a toy truck in his tiny hands. “Mom, can you please buy this for me?”

My skin crawled with unease as he closed the distance between us. “Please… I’m begging you. I didn’t do anything wrong. I was just born into this world by inconsiderate parents.” My voice cracked as tears streamed down my face. My eyes stayed on the gun by his side. What if he pulled the trigger by mistake? I’d never seen a gun up close before. And now… here it was. A low, wicked chuckle left his lips as he raised the gun to my face. “Are you scared I’m going to blow your head off with this?”

Robert stretched out his hand and took a look at the assembled toys. It was really what he had always wanted, but he didn't have time to tell mommy. "Wow, and my Transformers." Robert found another gift box, and when he saw the cover, he shouted excitedly. Robert opened nearly ten shopping bags in succession, including beautiful clothes, shoes and other toys … of course, his favorite toys are Transformers. "Mommy, are these all for us?" Cupid slightly raised his eyebrows and looked at Kacy, trying to ask.

Roman popped the trunk, and that’s when the chaos began. From the depths of the car, Rhett pulled out a massive, shiny red toy car. He grinned, his eyes sparkling with excitement as he held it up for me to see. “Mum, look! I got a new car!” he said, beaming. The pastel Blue structure had tiny shutters, a miniature roof, and what looked like a fully furnished interior visible through the windows.

It was a small wound but it was hurting him. "What happened Tak? Did you break the car?" I was surprised. "It was a mistake Daddy," Tak shouted, looking at his father. He was scared Tyson would yell at him. Tyson just walked inside the room quietly. He didn't look surprised or angry. "You didn't like the car?" He frowned. "No Daddy, I was trying to play with it when a song started playing. While trying to stop it from playing I broke the car," Tak tearfully said. That was weird. This is the second time Tak was breaking his toys. And the car is not small.

This wasn’t about memories—it was about ending things properly. Then, my steps halted at the toy section. I knew it was silly, but I just stood there, staring at the shelves filled with toy cars, dinosaurs, and light-up robots. My gaze landed on a large box: the Transformer X-10. The toy Noah had been asking for the past few months. I had said it was too expensive, that he already had too many. He never argued, just nodded quietly. But I knew he was disappointed. Now… I could finally give it to him.

I put on my smile and strode towards him. “Hey, buddy. Do you like that one?” I pointed at the vibrant beacon of emergency services. It's a striking shade of glossy fire-engine red, so bright it practically gleams under the light. This isn't a small, hand-held toy. A foot or more in length and proportionally wide and tall. Chen nodded with excitement in his eyes. So, we ended up buying only one toy truck because, according to him, he only needed one.

Instead, I leaned my head back against the seat and closed my eyes. I still didn't understand where he was going with all this. But I was indeed thankful that he got me out of that humiliating situation. The drive was quiet, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. There was something steady about Jesse. Like even in the middle of a storm, he wouldn’t waver.

Brianna’s POV After going to the police station, I went straight to the mall to buy something. I went inside a toy store and chose an average size. I’d like to pick the biggest but Essy might not be able to carry it. “Is it for your daughter, ma’am?” I just smiled at her because I saw a toy car. I grabbed it and checked it. For Brent, I guess? I noticed a toy pick up truck and I smiled unconsciously. I remember the day I saw Rogue riding an old pick up truck. He told me the story about the pickup and now I understand why he treasures that car so much.
