She met him at the door. He looked the way he had been looking since the bankruptcy — stripped of infrastructure, clean of armor, just the man himself in a dark jacket and the face she had once known better than she knew her own. His eyes went to Hargrove first, then to the empty chair where Elliot had been sitting, then to Lila.

Chapter 14: **** The morning after the Global Trade Summit should have been quiet. It wasn’t. I woke before sunrise. The house was still, but my mind was racing. Adrian was still sleeping, one arm thrown over the empty space I’d just left. I watched him for a minute, then slipped out of bed. I walked barefoot to the kitchen, poured black coffee, and stood by the window. The city was waking up. So was the war. Few minutes later,my phone vibrated on the counter. It was an unknown number.

The morning dawned gray and cold, the sun struggling to break through the thick blanket of clouds hanging over the mountains. Wind howled against the cabin walls, rattling the windows in their frames and sending occasional gusts of snow across the glass. The storm had returned during the night, covering the landscape in a fresh layer of white. Chloe woke slowly. For several seconds, she didn't remember where she was. Then everything came rushing back. The warehouse. The fire. Arthur. Sloane.

“I can’t,“ I murmur, my hands shaking. Someone near the back calls out, “We don’t have all day, Cap,“ and Killian doesn’t even turn his head to acknowledge it; he looks at my hands the way I’m looking at him. “Maybe—“ “You can,“ he says to me, his voice low. “Look at me instead of them.“ He skates around so he is standing directly in front of me on the other side, and something about that gives me just enough courage to find my breath. “Okay, hi everyone. I’m Dawn,“ I start, and Devon raises an eyebrow because my voice comes out weak. “Hey, eyes on me,” Kill shouts again, and I look at Damian, who has his jaw clenched tight before looking at Kill.

I couldn't believe my eyes; this was indeed happening to me. ‘Come on, shut the door, slut,’ Tobias uttered, kissing Daphine on her neck right in front of me. The guilt was written all over her face, the feeling of betrayal was all over me. I stood there dumbfounded, seeing them do their silly things, but I can't help but cry.

No one could determine if it would actually be successful or not, since it has already been a long time since Yve was turned into a half-blooded vampire. After a few minutes passed, Dawn came back to where we all were, and he came right in front of Yve. He firmly held one of her hands as he placed his left hand above her right shoulder. Those expressions in Dawn's eyes clearly tell me that he wants to make it a success.

As Dawn awakens from her lifeless state, she finds herself back in the familiar surroundings of her brother's home. Elliot's heart swells with joy and relief at the sight of his resurrected sister. Embracing her tightly, he is grateful to have her back by his side. Aware of the dangers that loom over Zelda, Dawn is determined to shield her from the malevolence that surrounds them. With a sense of purpose, she retrieves a bundle of sage, a sacred herb known for its cleansing properties. Igniting the sage, the fragrant smoke curls and dances in the air, filling the room with its purifying energy.

"Or you can go upstairs and clean up. God, I need to stop trying to be inside you the moment you come home." Dawn finally talks, licking her lower lip as she stares at my hands. "I want you to get access to my chest." She laughs nervously. "And I like how you're trying to get inside me the moment I came home." She bites her lower lip and makes a show of it. "I guess we both missed each other, huh?" "I sure did miss you."

Dawn locked the door before she stood in front of a mirror above the cabinet, pulling down the neck of her sweater and observing the injuries on her neck. I looked at her, heavily ladden with guilt. The bruises were almost gone now, her skin was healing and returning back to its bright colour. "Dawn I—" "What are you?" She asked, her voice even. I couldn't look at her, even as she turned around and focused her gaze on my face. I didn't have an answer to her question. 'A demon maybe... A vampire.'

Her eyes flared blue once more and she said the word to set the remains alight just as the Hook Man brought his hook down on her. The ghost burst into flames and vanished, a bloody hook being all that was left in his place. Now it was Tyler’s turn to be distracted which allowed Dawn to shove him off of her and punch him several times in the face until he was knocked out, his nose bleeding. She seriously hoped that she’d broken his nose. The eighteen year old joined Lena at the hole, watching the flames burn Mathew Drummond’s remains. “You ok?” she asked. “Bruised but fine”, Lena replied “how about you?”
