I cried a lot writing these last two chapters! This farewell to Hope broke me a little. The story continues in Book 2, it will take place two years after the events of this book! Aruna couldn't breathe. Her eyes remained locked on the photograph. Her mother. Not a memory. Not an old report. Not a surveillance image from years ago. Tonight. This very night. She was alive. Or maybe I expected it to feel like more. Thirty years of one woman's understanding of how to survive something that had killed twelve people across four centuries, and it fit in one hand. She loves him too much to leave him. "Where is your little notepad? I haven't seen it for a while." She asked me, snapping me out of my thoughts. "Oh, shit. I think I have left it at Bash's home." I just remembered it. It has the details of all my work and bills. And for a twenty-two-year-old woman, I love stationery stuff too much. With this as a reason, I could steal one of his T-shirts too. I grinned like an idiot at the thought of him finding me, wearing his T-shirt when he came back.

“Do you like blackberries or not a fan like me? I have a whale back in the bunker who would kill anyone for some, so I had to feed her.” I spoke while collecting the ripe fruit; it was a peaceful moment with my ghost and I loved it. I got used to the silent forest now and seriously, being my old pack’s neighbor wasn’t that bad anymore. At least now there was no infected, supernatural or human. I hummed all the way back to the bunker and imagined the look on Katy’s face when she saw what I got her. She would worship me for days to come and I liked that. She was growing on me. I sighed.

Hello, it's me, the author again. Vanilla has been divided into two parts, for good reasons, I promise, which means this would be Book one.
