Jeffery’s POV Dawn spread gray and desolate across the horizon, its weak light barely touching the deserted road ahead. Cassie remained next to me, her eyes darkened by sorrow and exhaustion, her face pale. My fists gripped the wheel, tension bubbling through every nerve. Edward's final, wicked laugh still rang in my mind—a foreboding sign that he had set events in train much earlier than the moment he took his final breath. We had escaped with our lives, but at what cost? Lila was killed, Hayes eliminated, but Edward's ghost loomed larger than ever, ready to destroy us from beyond the grave.

I let out a cold laugh and casually gestured toward the bed. “And what about those? Were those your ideas too?” Rosie’s face went pale, then turned red with anger. “Evan, I really didn’t know about this! “I’ve been running myself ragged for the company. Swallowing hard, I couldn’t stop myself from shooting a glance toward the gardens where Ava’s slender form was just visible between the hedges. “That was over a hundred years ago,” I found myself saying, more to reassure myself than anything. “Surely no one would go to such extremes these days.” Edward’s expression was inscrutable as he turned from the window to face me directly. “I should certainly hope not. This is a different world we live in now, a different era.” His jaw tensed briefly. “And yet... considering the recent incidents with the moonbite powder in your pack, one has to wonder just how antiquated some of our kind are willing to be.”

Penelope’s POV I looked around the room, scanning for any sign of Dominic. The hallway behind Edward remained empty. My gaze returned to Edward, a hint of urgency creeping into my voice. “Didn’t Dominic come back with you?” Edward’s face fell, his expression shifting to one of dejection. He lowered his head, unable to meet my eyes for several long seconds. When he finally looked up, his amber eyes showed what appeared to be genuine sorrow. “There was an accident,” he said softly. “We were both trying to reach the wolf vine. It was growing on the cliff face, difficult to access.” He paused, swallowing hard. “We accidentally fell off the cliff while fighting for the wolf vine.”

She shouted, “don’t, they are not themselves, you will be infected if you feed on their bloods. Please, run to the human realm and feed your thirst.” Edward remembered what happened with the rogues and he sighed, however, just then, he felt a sharp pain to the head and winced. “I have to go.” “Feed first, Edward.” “There is no time.” “I saw you hurt.” “There is no time!” he yelled, his eyes blazing red and his fangs elongated. “There is no time.” Irene sighed. “You keep calling her damned little wolf but you have already started caring for her to this extent.”

I turn back to the TV, still completely embarrassed. The party was going to start shortly but all I wanted to do was sleep. "Jeeeez, what came over you? I think virgin you was nicer." I hit his shoulder and he laughs. "I'm kidding, I'll shut up now." "You better- asshole." I glare at him. "Anyways, what are you supposed to be? Edward from twilight?" I ask as I laugh. "Yes." He rolls his eyes. "Not everyone hates Twilight like you." "I don't hate Twilight. I just don't like the fact that Edward shines in the sun instead of burning. It's just not believable." He rolls his eyes yet again.

They quickly opened the gates and allowed him to enter. King Edward dismounted from his horse and was greeted by King Alexander and his advisors. They welcomed him warmly and expressed their delight at his unexpected visit. King Edward explained that he had come to personally thank King Alexander for his help in defeating the Silverwood nation and saving his people from harm. He also expressed his admiration for King Alexander's bravery and leadership. King Alexander graciously accepted King Edward's thanks and invited him to join him for dinner. And who else would like to take to the ring?” There was a beat of silence, and then Edward called out, “I would.” When I’d first been introduced to Edward, I’d expected him to be a Robert Pattinson look-alike. Like Rowan, my knowledge of vampires had been limited to film and literature, and Twilight had been fresh in my mind around that time. I’d finally caved and read it, and, though I wouldn’t admit it to anyone now – no real vampire could respect anyone who sparkled, especially if they didn’t make the most of it and rock it as body glitter – I’d spent too many late nights re-reading the scenes between Bella and Edward.
