Pamela rushed to his side. Catriona grunted beside me. “Jayden, can you sit up? You’re kinda heavy for me to drag.” “I got it, baby,” I murmured, still stunned, still piecing together what the hell just happened. My strength was coming back fast. He knew vampires and werewolves were real as he had fought a lot of them in his recent battles but that was just it. Thoughts of witches and goblins and fairies being real never crossed his mind but here he was, staring at a being that was floating in the air like he was a piece of thin paper. "Francis," Edward mumbled as he slowly began to walk backwards. A huge wind was beginning to blow around him, sending dust into his eyes. He had to place his hands over his eyes to stop the spraying dust from coming close to his face. Edward turned to see if Mr Brown was following him but he too had disappeared. He was nowhere to be found too.

I fell onto the chaise and everything blurred until only one shape remained in sharp focus: Damon, outside the drawing room, watching, a man who could turn the world over for me. The quiet hum of birds drifted in from outside. Edward was already awake, seated on the edge of the bed, a towel draped loosely around his shoulders. He’d been up for a while, watching the sunrise, watching her. Ava stirred under the sheets, her brow furrowing as a beam of sunlight fell directly across her face. She groaned softly, turning over, pulling the blanket higher. Before she could shift again, a shadow moved. Edward stood, reached for the curtain, and drew it closed just enough to dim the light.

Dom glanced up from his paper and his face turned crimson. His chair scrapped loudly across the floor as he stalked over to us. I’ve never been terrified of Dominic before, until this very moment, he looked huge and angry. I flinched uncontrollably as he looked over my neck and face and at the back of my head, grumbling under his breath.

The transaction was established. Edward's surroundings suddenly changed to a dark red. The demon eye kept floating in the air and was so huge that Edward's legs trembled. However, he couldn't back down anymore. Edward took a deep breath. He tore a few hairs from his head and bit his finger hard to make it bleed. Those two items flew overhead and entered the demon's eye. It was dim and slightly curved as if enjoying a delicious dish. Then, the eye opened and stared at Edward. He felt energy run through him. The demon’s eye suddenly narrowed and entered Edward's head.

It was all too much, too suffocating. As I sat on the edge of my bed, the ache in my chest only grew. There had to be something I was missing. My thoughts spun back as I went through recent events. The mandrake flower, the cryptic flower order card, the shadow luring me inside the forest, Lucas's accident, and Stefan’s frame-up. Could all of it be coincidental? Never!

Relief flooded her, but almost immediately, the fiery heat in her body surged, overwhelming her. She slid down against the wall, her strength giving out, and pulled off her T-shirt in an attempt to cool down. Her breathing was heavy, and her pounding heartbeat echoed in her ears.
