Danielle paused at the herb section. She crouched down. In the dark she put her hand in the soil around the base of the rosemary — Dante's rosemary, from the nursery he had recently discovered, planted on a Saturday in October with both their hands in the dirt. The soil was cold. The plant was there. Small and dark in the November night, alive against the evidence. She pressed her fingers into the soil around its base. "It made it," she told him. "The rosemary. It made it through the winter."

"Let's do this right." They started and finished the chant that was written in the book. The smoke envelopes the room. When the smoke vanished, the rosemary appeared. This flower signifies remembrance, perhaps because it's said to enhance memory. It burst into pieces and lived on their skin. The small rosemary flower became a tattoo on the back of their ears. "Now, we just have to trust the process and wait for the new moon."

She was standing in a beautiful garden filled with white flowers. The sun was shining, and everything looked peaceful and bright. Suddenly, a woman appeared in front of her. She had long silver hair and kind eyes that looked familiar, though Rosemary couldn't remember where she had seen them before. "Hello, Rosemary," the woman said with a warm smile.

She was humming softly, sleeves rolled up, her hair tied back with a neat ribbon like she’d been living here her whole life. The counter gleamed.
