she pleads, “come down for breakfast. You haven’t eaten in three days. You’re weak.” “I’d like to die, thank you,” I mutter, moving toward the balcony. The door closes gently behind her, but she doesn’t leave. I step out into the breeze, staring down at the lights twinkling like stars across a city I don’t recognize. It’s beautiful. Like a storybook. Like a lie. “Where is this?” I ask without looking at her. “The Twilight Court,” she answers, stepping beside me. “Valen’s palace.” I inch away from her, and she notices. I don’t care.

Tara instinctively tried to dodge, but it was too late. A faintly sweet scent filled the air, and she inhaled several breaths before realizing. Wesley blocked the door, leaving her no choice but to retreat further into the room. Her voice was sharp with alarm. “What are you trying to do?” Wesley smirked, his laugh sinister. “What do you think?” With that, he sprayed her again several more times. Tara’s body started to feel hot, her heart racing. Her legs grew weak, and the flashing disco lights made her dizzy.

It doesn’t surprise me because I know the second brother hates me. “At least I won’t burn.” The corner of Xannon’s lip curls into a mocking smirk. “Don't act so smart, Mae. Remember we still don’t know how they kill liars like you.” He walks away, keeping his distance from me. Xaden is the last triplet to climb out. He’s also the last one to make it. I count the heads standing with me. We’ve lost five shifters. There’s a girl crying on a far row. Professor Emerald meets her and places a hand on her shoulder. Everyone hears what he says.

They are just waiting for the right time to attack us, just to bring us down so I understand him. “All right, fine,” I surrendered, which made him laugh heartily. I don’t even know now if he just loves having debates with me when it comes to this kind of situation to make me shut up and follow what he said, or if he’s just trying to make me realize that I’m wrong. Still, he’s enjoying it whenever I surrender. .... “Your Highness Celeste, I apologize for interrupting your rest, but a werewolf named Sebastian Lyall Volkov visited you and he’s now in the living room. I hugged him. Clara and Ivy high-fived each other for getting their job done as the pack members started to clear out the damage caused by both Xavier and Esmeralda.
