We arrived in Aruba early the next morning. I managed to sleep a bit on the flight, along with Leila and Jase, but felt wide awake and refreshed in the early morning sunshine. So, now they can go into sunlight without bursting into flames," Xander replied as if this were the most normal conversation ever. "Why do they burst into flames in sunlight in the first place?" I smiled, grabbed her hand, and placed a kiss on it. “Why would I need to? I have you to defend me, don’t I?” Jasmine froze for a moment, staring at me blankly. After a while, just as I began to think I had ruined everything with my reckless confession, a feather-light kiss brushed my cheek. Jasmine turned away and spoke in a soft voice, “Then I guess I’ll just have to keep an eye on you from now on.” The sunlight bathed her in a golden glow, etching her into my memory as the most beautiful sight I had ever seen.

Right now I didn’t even care that all the lights in the house were on. It was a thirty minute drive to Theodore’s. The ride was slow and quiet. We were all lost in our thoughts. The dull sound of the tires on the tarmac and the smooth rev of the engine were the only sound that dominated the car through out the entire ride. In a distance, the mansion that hosted most members of the coven appeared.
