Mina’s voice was a jagged sob over the short-range radio. The "Sparrow" sub drifted into view, its Flood-Lights (high-intensity external lamps) cutting through the silt. The mechanical arm of the sub reached out with a metal gentleness, snagging the umbilical and pulling the two limp forms toward the Air-Lock. Inside the sub, the transition was a blur of freezing water and the sharp, metallic tang of emergency oxygen. As the pressure equalized, the inner hatch swung open, and Elara and Kazimir tumbled onto the deck plates in a tangled heap of wet Kevlar and shattered armor.

The spectators below the stage were so frightened that they retreated. Maya's eyes flashed with strange lights. She did not expect Caspian to attack so ruthlessly, and she never thought that Caspian was much stronger than she imagined before. Soon, Maya frowned, and the umbrella in her hand was swiftly opened. "The Phoenix's Arrival!" In the midair, Maya held an umbrella in one hand. Just like a servant in the palace, Maya made an exquisite knee-bending motion. However, the energy in her whole body surged, and the air surrounding them was as if screaming madly. In the blink of an eye, a massive force blasted at the Blazing Spear.

Sparrow didn’t care; however, he relished the time he got to spend with his beautiful nerdy hybrid mate. Once Raven loosened up and got past the rejection she felt from Sparrow, she became more lively around him. She was a master at horrible dad jokes, but Sparrow laughed at every single bad pun and poorly timed punchline. She was adorable in every way and a breath of fresh air. She didn’t shirk away from his physical appearance; she embraced him and his scars.

“Let’s start, and the guys can join us when they figure out the umbrellas.” We all looked over at the group of guys, who were still clustered around the umbrellas. Tyler and Trevon were holding one, trying to keep it from wobbling. Adrian was jabbing the other one into the ground with all his might. He looked annoyed. He didn’t want anything to do with these stupid umbrellas, but I said shade would be nice, so there he was. Tyler, Finnian, Jerry, Sullivan, and Caspian were all talking, pointing at the last few umbrellas. Zane was just watching, a smirk on his face, like a boss watching his employees work.

It’s unraveling. The Child tenses. "It’ll destabilize." I know what they’re thinking—the Mirror shard, the power to sever, to fix . But the shard is dead. And the Child’s control is still… fragile. Attached to it by a thin silver wire… Was a handwritten note. Marcus carefully removed it. He unfolded the paper. His face drained of color. “What is it?” Amelia asked. Marcus handed her the note. It contained only one sentence. Welcome home, Little Sparrow. At the bottom was a symbol Amelia had never seen before. A black feather enclosed within a circle. Elias stared at it. His voice was barely above a whisper. “The Ravens…” Victor looked equally shaken. “I thought they were only a legend.” Elias met Amelia’s eyes.

Could he still have a trump card? As if answering that very question, a vibrant purple umbrella suddenly appeared in front of Felix, spinning rapidly. A wave of invisible energy radiated outward, instantly dispelling the crimson skulls into nothingness. "Well, well..." a playful voice echoed in Felix's ears. "Looks like you owe me one now. This should be fun." Felix did not need to look to see who it was because the umbrella alone gave it away—it was Mira, his senior apprentice. She loved rainy days and sunny summers because both were perfect weather for carrying an umbrella.
