After days—weeks?—of concrete walls and artificial light, the sun felt like a story I had once heard as a child but never believed was real. I lay curled beneath a thick quilt, watching it spill through the window, golden, and dappled with shadow. I wasn’t sure what day it was. Or what time. I only knew that I was safe. Or supposed to be.

She buried herself under her blankets, letting the silence consume her as she tried to ignore the pounding of her own heart. In the dimness of her room, as daylight faded and the shadows grew long, Channary clutched her pillow, sinking deeper into her shame. The Moon had betrayed her, left her vulnerable, her mate unclaimed. She was the Alpha’s daughter, Moon-Kissed and blessed, yet here she was, abandoned and marked only by the emptiness of broken promises.

It became apparent that the internet cannot always be relied upon for factual information. When I opened the window after a nap, the bright light hurt my eyes. I quickly locked the windows and closed it with the curtain. Damn! I showered and covered myself with clothes to avoid exposing my skin to the sun and remembered that I was going to school and left home.

I would like to thank all of you who stuck with me through this series of books, and even those of you who have only read this book (or just two of the three). It has taken me a year to work through all three books, but I was determined to do my best to end the series on a sweet note. They arrived at the house while the sun was still very high in the sky. Lucas parked, and they brought their luggage inside. Selena put on her bikini and Lucas was wearing his shorts, and while he was preparing some drinks for them, Selena organized their things outside the suitcases. Lucas came to her and handed her a glass of something colorful but very tasteful. They spent the whole day at the beach, talking, swimming, making out and laughing. Just being at each other's presence was more than enough.
