It’s pathetic.” Lila’s hand trembled in Max’s grasp. “Kimberley… please. There’s a baby here.” Kimberley’s eyes flicked to Isabelle, and for the briefest moment, her expression softened, then hardened again. “Oh, don’t worry, sweetheart. She won’t remember any of this.” I took a step forward before I could stop myself. Max jerked the gun upward immediately, shouting, “I SAID STAY BACK!” The noise echoed like thunder in the warehouse. Isabelle started crying again, louder this time, heart wrenching sobs that clawed at me.

With their rotting visages, the creatures all looked very much alike. She watched in horror as the zombies stumbled over the bank and down onto the rocks before crashing into the water and disappearing beneath the surface. Laurie and Peter kicked backward, propelling themselves farther out into the river, their eyes fixed on the spot where the zombies had gone under. When a minute passed without the creatures resurfacing, Laurie began to breathe a little easier. She wasn’t sure whether zombies could actually drown, but she didn’t care, as long as they were lying on the bottom of the river and not swimming after them.

They do not need air. They could remain under the water until the fish and aquatic creatures erode their bodies completely…”

I walk through the crowd of people conversely to see the source of danger and my eyes almost bulges out. Zombies swarm across the hole from above the leaking ceiling of the base. Endlessly falling and tumbling to the ground chasing and biting people with their disgustingly sharp teeth..! Blood saturating the ground with rotten smells and tiny worms splattered around the base. "This is the apocalypse?!" I have never seen one before. This is the first. "Help..! Aaaaahh!" A rotting zombie takes hold of a child and is about to bite her. My hand trembles but I pick up my courage and...

Because of this, the number of mutated humans running for their lives and hiding in this land that were being infected and becoming zombies was steadily increasing. Kendra had never encountered a zombie, but her aunt had schooled her on them enough for her to know that they were a dangerous lot. There were zombies at various levels of deformities to their bodies; depending upon whether they were mutants when they turned or simply unfortunate humans. Since they were considered to be death walking, she had difficulty understanding how or why they would become cannibals. Why would they have a need to eat at all? In the front row were two giant king crabs waving their pincers, with a few moray eels baring their teeth in between. There were even a few large lobsters carrying corals as shields in the back row... I was speechless. The system laughed maniacally in my mind. "Elle! Is this an underwater version of the Avengers?" The doctor continued explaining, "They can't transform their legs, so they can only stay underwater. They'll only force their way ashore when Mr. Atwater is in mortal danger!"

Several strong zombies piled on top of each other, stretching out their withered claws to reach for Uncle Adam's head. "Ah! Don't come any closer! Go away!" Uncle Adam screamed at the top of his lungs when he saw the fingernails only inches from his nose. Watching this, I pressed the 'descent' button on the controller. The fishing line instantly extended a foot and a half. Uncle Adam's head plummeted downward, directly into a zombie's mouth. It opened its mouth wide and bit down on Uncle Adam's balding forehead. Just as its teeth were about to touch his scalp, I swiftly pressed the 'ascend' button.

I considered the ceiling but waved off the idea then I sat down in resignation and chewed on my lower lip nervously. “I really hope Sarah’s okay, I have to get to her before the scary witch does.” I mumbled and everything in the room started to float, it suddenly felt like I was falling but not reaching the ground, like everything around me was afloat except me. I struggled to keep afloat but it wasn’t working so I gave in to the feeling of falling and waiting for when I’ll finally reach the ground. My eyelids became heavy and my vision blurry, the next thing I know, I was engulfed by thick darkness.
