| The Encounter | TIME PASSED by without you even knowing it. The more you ignore the time, the faster it ticks. First day in College gone better as I expected. No hassle at all. I even meet new girlfriends which share the same interests as mine—Nena, a black American girl who loves coffee and books, Trix, a foodie blonde girl, and Evette, the fashionista. Though I was a bit left behind by being a sassy lady like Evette, still we share the same interests when it comes to putting light retouches on our faces.

He hurriedly helped me into my ski jacket, goggles, and gloves, making sure I had everything I needed to stay warm and comfortable. I was so excited to try skiing for the first time, I could hardly contain myself. As Eden busied himself with his phone, I took a moment to glance around at the snowy landscape. Everything was so beautiful, so magical. But just as I was lost in awe of my surroundings, something unexpected happened. Suddenly, without any warning, I collided with a hard surface, the impact sending a sharp pain through my shoulders. It was an unexpected collision. One moment I was walking through the resort, enjoying the snow under my feet, and the next, I found myself stumbling ba

“We have to get him out. Now.” The entity had not followed—it remained, slowly coalescing, watching them with unknowable eyes. It did not pursue because it knew. This was only the beginning. Althea and Cassian transported Xanden back through the portal, the taste of failure heavy in their mouths. Their victory had come at a cost—and the true enemy had only just awakened.

I didn’t waste a second—I bolted for the door and ran as fast as I could. I could hear him shouting my name, but I didn’t stop. I kept running. Why is everything falling apart all at once? First, I lose my job. Then that letter. And now Lucas, the one person I thought I could trust. I found myself in a bar, downing drink after drink. It didn’t take long for me to get drunk. “What am I supposed to do now?” I muttered, staring at my empty glass. “Why is my life such a mess?”

Tried not to think about late nights, closed hotels, language barriers, or the fact that I was suddenly very aware of how far from home I was. Then my phone buzzed in my hand. The vibration was sharp and sudden, cutting through the quiet like a warning bell. Relief surged instinctively as I glanced down. Good, I thought. Information. Solutions. It evaporated instantly. Around mile seven, we encountered our first real problem. The forest opened into a clearing that shouldn’t have existed. Perfect circle, maybe fifty feet across. The ground was scorched black. And in the center stood something that made my blood run cold. A Class B anomaly. Maybe ten feet tall. Humanoid but made from what looked like twisted metal and exposed bone. Its face was a smooth mask with no features except a mouth that split its head in half. “Back away slowly,” Miranda breathed. “Don’t make sudden movements.” Too late.

But life has a way of surprising us, and a new twist awaited us on the horizon. It started with a seemingly innocent encounter—an invitation to a high-profile charity event, hosted by a prominent philanthropist. The event promised to be an unforgettable night, with renowned guests from all walks of life attending. We were excited about the opportunity to contribute to a noble cause and mingle with influential figures, unaware of the storm that was about to descend upon us.

It felt refreshing. Once I was done with my morning routine, I rushed to the kitchen. To think that before I met Kaden, I didn't know how to cook. I only knew how to boil an egg. The rest felt like rocket science. After I met Kaden, I learned how to cook. It was hard, and I got burnt a lot or the food got burnt, but he served it through it. Kaden took me in after my ex dumped me. He stole my money and everything I own, and he kicked me out of our apartment. I had no strength to fight him, so I was just going to give it all up. I tried to jump into oncoming traffic, but suddenly a man appeared and pulled away from the road. To this day, I am convinced that was fate. Our destinies brought us t

I thought things had changed for me when I figured out, I was a witch, but it seemed like I was still the same unlucky girl who never really had things go smoothly for her for a long time. Suddenly, a felt an icy touch on my shoulder, and I looked sharply over my shoulder, and at my back, but no one was there. I rose to my feet quickly and as I looked forward, I noticed the fireflies were back, but were at the other intersection. My face brightened up with an excited smile. “Oh, my goodness.” I uttered under my breath and I covered my mouth, feeling overwhelmed and loved by nature.

I made an effort to get my feelings under control. It was an odd incident since I was meant to have seen it, but I was deeply taken away by a force that was beyond my capacities and explanations at that particular time. It was a force that was beyond my capabilities and explanations at that time. I was startled when I tripped over a pebble that was just in front of me, and the accident was peculiar due to the fact that it was an unexpected event.
