Winter snapped almost causing my left ear to go deaf. “I’m sorry sir” he said softly with his head faced down. “YOU ARE A DISAPPOINTMENT NOTHING MORE!” he yelled. “I wonder how Mr. Haze would think if he saw you right now.” I felt something wetting my hand as I slowly took a glance at my hand which was on the table just beneath Sorrows head. Tears had covered it and I knew they came from Sorrow. “Everyone you can go home” Mr. Winter quickly said. We all started packing our books and heading out.

The prisoner. The sounds were haunting. The other son whimpered, echoing his parent. No one else dared a murmur. At this very moment, I knew that may I live for a day or a millions days, these were sounds that were now imprinted in my memories forever. Those wails will haunt my nightmares. They reverberated in my head in a symphony or anguish and terror. “Where is it?” said the man a little louder this time, so he could be heard over the cries of absolute pain.

My face felt stiff, marked with the trails of dried tears. The sound of silence was loud, but not as loud as the cries that had haunted me day and night. My baby. His cries were endless, piercing through my already broken heart like shards of glass. Every shrill scream seemed to dig deeper into my nerves. Instead of filling me with tenderness like babies usually do, they made me sick. I hated the sound. I hated the reminder that my life had been reduced to this.

“B-but… I don’t know what’s happening with them now. It has been a long time. I lost track and still haven’t heard any information about her progress.” Before I could process my mother’s words, a sudden sound pierced through the thick silence of the hospital—a sharp, loud cry. I paused, my breath hooked in my throat. “Did you hear that mother—“ Another sharp cry pierced through, followed by another. Three cries. Three distinct cries. My hands on the phone tightened as if it were the only thing anchoring me to reality. “Did you hear that mother?” My voice was small as if desperate not to breathe the fragile moment.

CHAPTER 14 The sound of untold things smashing broke her minds, the sounds of glass shattering, the ferocity of eerie screams, and the fading wail of unknown people cries.Nina stared at the woman with blank cold eyes, so cold, and slowly numbing the pain, waiting for the signs of a new day to scatter the stars back to the planets from whence they came. She couldn’t believe how the unbelievable it is, so unclear to her, indeed she was brought up by unknown neighbour's who were later killed ruthlessly by king Imboko.

There, where the dead flame rolled like black flashes over the monstrous road, where there were living people and where his house once existed. The wind howled in his ears, the space groaned from the gnashing of trees, from the sobs of the earth torn up by stones, from the almost human cries of the undead, and soon others will be added to these sounds - the cry of pain and horror of creatures of flesh and blood ....

It must have been a decade since it was cleaned. Not her concern at the moment, however. Another painful scream arrived, and this time it was way louder and more pained than the last time. It was as if someone’s limbs were being cut off when they were still alive, or that some sort of pain was being inflicted on them after regular periods. Claire swallowed a great deal of saliva and followed the cries, using the thick columns to stay hidden behind. It didn’t take long before her eyes caught the spot where the cries were coming from, and to say she was horrified at what she found out would be one hell of an understatement.

I'm in what looks like a vast empty space, with no walls or ceiling or floor that I can make out. Just endless black stretching in every direction, going on forever and ever with no end in sight. The silence is complete and oppressive, like being buried alive. No sound, no movement, no sign of life anywhere. And then I hear it. Crying. Soft, heartbroken sobbing that echoes through the darkness like it's coming from everywhere and nowhere at the same time. It's the sound of someone who has given up hope, who has been crying for so long they've forgotten what it feels like not to cry.

I had no room left for doubt. My body, drained in fatigue, begged me to take a break, but I didn’t. Not until— A cry pierced the silence. It was not a wolf howling or the screech of any animal as far as I knew. It sounded harder, colder, and slashing through the night cold like an open wound. I froze, unable to catch my breath. I heard the sound again, closer now. It was a cry. My heart slammed so loudly I thought the whole fucking forest heard.

All I can hear is the sorrow and anger in Izzy’s cry. “NOOO!”
