The Price Of Trust
I could only hear his cries, and it shattered me into a million pieces.
I moved faster, moving through the pallets with urgency. My vision blurred with tears. My child. My baby.
His cries were raw, trembling, filled with a fear no child should ever know. My breath caught in my throat as my body went cold.
He was sobbing—heart-wrenching, desperate sobs that made my chest tighten until I could barely breathe.
“ P- p- please,” I could hear him whimper between hiccupped cries. “Take me back to my mama… She must be looking for me.”
