Unhinged Book Door Novels & Stories

He pulled me towards the section marked shadow weaver history and pulled at a book that lay horizontally on the top shelf. There was a puff of air as the seal broke away from behind the bookshelf. He pulled on the shelf, opening the hidden door. It was dark inside, but Kiran lit it up with his fire in his hand. He was getting good at controlling it now. He's so absolutely amazing. We slowly walked down the long dark corridor until we reached a large concrete room. In the center was a glass case with a leather bound large book inside. The thing was as massive as an English dictionary. The closer we got the more I could feel the darkness seeping from the book.

Maybe it’s a Virtus thing and Randy does the same. Hastily, I closed the door and rushed over to the shelf. Hmm…. All the books look new like they’ve never touched a hand or a finger. They’re neatly stacked and organised in alphabetical or….der? Hmm? ‘Gone with the wind’? ‘G’ doesn’t stand between ‘V’ and ‘X’. I held my breath as I pulled out the book Click. Something close unlocked itself and the shelf shuddered. Is it me or did the shelf just relaxed itself like a spring?

There were two doors on the right but she was not sure which was which. Chihun had started on dinner when he noticed Doona had not opened the bathroom door. Is she lost? Chihun thought. There were literally three doors, one was his room, one was the bathroom the other was locked... Chihun's eyes widened when he realized something terrible was about to happen. He hastily dropped the spatula in his hand and ran towards Doona, who was opening a door.

"I'm five minutes away. And I’m not bringing the Maybach. I’m bringing the end of the Valenti family." I dropped the phone and looked at the door. The top hinge had snapped. A hand, gloved in black leather, reached through the splintered wood, searching for the lock. I didn't hide. I didn't cry. I gripped the Red Ledger in one hand and a heavy glass decanter of scotch in the other. "Come and get it," I whispered to the door. "But you're going to have to walk through the Ghost to get to the book."

‘You didn’t tell which book we are looking for’ Adrian was gawking at the frames hanging on the wall, but his mind was still stuck on the book. ‘It’s for Irene’ I stopped in front the large wooden door, on side wall plate hanged with library engraved on it. It looked heavy, I looked at Adrian and he picked the silent message. Pushing both doors with all his strength, we were able to get into the library. ‘Woah! Who makes such a heavy door. You should have brought Isaac with you’ he brushed his hand to clean the dirt. ‘My goodness!’ he mumbled and I had to agree with him. I was standing in awe at the sight of thousands of books racked on the wall from floor to ceiling.

Corvin said. Off to our right, a different door flickered at the edge of my vision. Not the big UNWRITTEN: ENDING(S) at the very end of the hall. A smaller one, halfway down, that hadn’t been glowing before. Its label jittered, and text tried on different shapes for half a second before settling into a compromise. UNWRITTEN: REBELLION ENDING. The frame brightened, pulse syncing not to the pillar this time, but—faintly—to my pen.

Lucien said, setting a stool on the chalked square where yesterday’s tide of argument had turned. Maera opened the packet. Inside: one page only—List of the Unchosen (Addenda)—and beneath it, a rough drawing: a square with a chair in it and the words Sit first, then count. On the back: If the door tries to be a mouth, ignore it. Doors hate neglect. “Witness,” the ferry-woman said, voice low, as if being polite to weather earned dividends. “But bored.” Evelyn swung the new hinge. No red. No sweetness. Not even that clean, antiseptic hunger that had tried to civilize them. Noon came in, did its work on glass, and left.

I tilted my head, giving a small nod. Kyle reached out and pressed the spine of a blue book. It shifted. Slide inward. A soft, mechanical click followed, and the entire bookshelf trembled before slowly pulling away—revealing a hidden door concealed behind it. My breath caught. Kyle stepped closer, gripping the golden doorknob. He twisted it twice in opposite directions. Click. The sound echoed softly in the stillness. Then, with a long, creaking sigh— the door opened. My jaw fell open the moment I stepped inside.

The room may look like a small library, if one hasn't read about the secret door leading to the real place in the map before. He made quick steps to the last shelf standing attached to the wall completely, there was no gap between the wall and the last shelf as if they were one, which is not usually normal. He pulled the fifth book in the third row. A red book with dust which looks really dull in comparison to the other books around it. The pull triggered a door to emerge open in a plain wall out of the blue, the wall was unusual too compared to others hovered by many portraits or some sceneries.

I have a feeling this isn’t food. I twist the single manacle I’m left wearing on my right hand as I near the door, worried about messing up my plan by opening it and whoever’s behind it locking it tight again, like Declan failed to do. I make a snap decision and stuff a book as far as I can beneath the left door, knowing the right side is always the one that swings open. If the door remains unlevel, it won’t lock properly. At least, I’m praying that’s the case. I listen as keys jingle on the other side of the door and stand back, my heart hammering.
