BEHIND OFFICE DOORS
Laura parted her lips, trembling words on the tip of her tongue but never able to make it through.
Suddenly, a fluid, bright light leaped into the room like a hum invader, making a disorder of the broken-down entrance.
It completely drowned out the dim bulb on the ceiling, then proceeded to cast long almost strung-out shadows that waltzed faintly across the messy walls.
Instinctively, Laura flinched and threw her arm up to shield her eyes. Her heart gave a startled jolt, pounding like a drum in her chest as her breath hitched in surprise. The brightness made it impossible to see anything clearly.
