I turned towards the sound to see Josh stumbling towards us, his face alight.
“Maddox,” I said, grimacing when he nearly tripped before catching himself with a crooked grin.
“I’m so glad you made it,” he said, eyes flicking between Sam and me. “And who’s this fine young man?”
“This is Sam Keaton,” I said evenly. “My date for tonight.”
Josh’s eyebrows shot up, mischief lighting his expression. He clearly wanted to make a comment but for once, thank God, decided against it.
