Unfortunately for Hail, there really is no avoiding bloodshed as VonTassel moves to lick her injuries. He’s dead, and will be gone before he even registers I’m ripping his heart from his chest. The chain around her neck tells me exactly who her house is. What asshole had her sign a contract and let her travel alone. The fucking dill hole who refused to book me a flight and didn’t tell me shit about contracting a new servant. I can only assume this was Hail’s passive-aggressive way of punishing me and giving the cupcake protection because it’s my house sigil on the crest around her neck.

And I’m terrified. I take a shaky breath. “It was a vision. Not real. But… it felt real.” Mom’s hand finds mine instantly. “Sweetheart, tell us everything.” So I do. I tell them about the Nothing. About the Hallow wearing Brad’s face. About the fury. About the threat. About the words he used. “He said I was supposed to be his vestal,” I whisper. “His vessel. His doorway.” Mom’s breath catches. Liam’s eyes widen. Grace presses a hand to her mouth. Emily whispers, “Oh my god…”

“Once you copter up, you ski down this huge mountain, and if you wipe out you cartwheel. It’s like falling in space, except you reconnect with the snow every fifty feet or so. I also want to swim with sharks in Florida, without a cage, of course.” “Maybe you could wrestle a gator in the Everglades?” I said with a laugh. “Yeah!” he said excitedly. “That sounds awesome, I’ll definitely add that to my list. I’d also love to at drive crazy speeds across frozen lakes in someplace like Arjeplog, Sweden and do a ninety-MPH donut!” “Wow. Those are some risky goals you’ve got there, but they sound like a blast.” “There are some places in California I’d like to check out too, like Laguna Beach, for

Smiling, they gazed at each other and walked off along the outer edge of Valhalla.

However, the word he had earlier heard interrupted his flow of thoughts, and the emotions that were creeping into him. Arthmata, Arthmata, Arthmata. The words resounded in his head in the very manner and pace the woman had said it. It, however, sounded more of a ghostly echo. Who was that woman? And what the hell is Arthmata? The woman looked worried when he met her. Their car had rammed into a truck. However, one thing caught his eye- Her eyes. When he first saw them, the top right quarter of her iris was red, the top left corner green, a the lower right quarter blue and the remaining quarter orange, and it seemed to glow dimly. The pupil was black, but it was blacker that the pupil anyone

(Julian’s P.O.V) Her wolf looked ethereal when it was glowing with the blue light surrounding her, her howling like a song calling on the Moon Goddess. That’s when I heard the water rushing and the howls and snarls of our warriors. We had crashed her shifting party, knowing this would be the perfect opportunity to grab her. What we hadn’t counted on was her being mated to the future Alpha King of Màni. That was not in the report from our spies, they hadn’t done their jobs right even with the help of Beatrix

Which happened to be jeans and Ghost’s t-shirt. “How is it fair, my Duchess, that you look this good when you’ve just rolled out of bed?” I could see the tent in his pants even through the duvet still around his waist. “Could say the same thing to you,” I smirked. “Right! Get up, shit to do. Runs to plan. If the Henchmen are going to back me up, I’ll need you and Rogue in Ragnarök in a couple hours.” “Oooh, I’m honoured that I get to be in a Valkyrie meet,” he winked.

It felt more powerful, and the sensation scared me. I got up and walked the quiet dark halls to my office. “Hati,” I said the name to myself as I sat down and opened the laptop. The different pages available all basically said the same thing. Sköll and Hati were the wolf children of Fenrir, chasing the sun and moon, which they would devour during Ragnarök, the end of days, the end of the world. Why was Hati coming for my son? Didn’t Ragnarök already happen? If I had more information at my disposal, I might have asked the goddess different questions. She summoned me, I had no idea how to go back to where I was and something told me not to try.

Brand had forgotten what it felt like – the all-consuming need for the blood of his enemies to be spilled on the ground at his feet. Brand shook his head another scream was silenced as he ripped out another throat. The blood dripped from his long snout as he took a breath and looked around him. Leather-clad warriors lay around him, some with eyes open staring at the sky as if looking for the Valkyries coming to take them to Valhalla. Brand snorted. Good luck. He couldn't believe the gods would want any of these followers of a deranged leader in their feasting halls.

"She referred to material I've never seen before." The book. Riley took another swallow of his drink. He knew all about the book the Volkas guarded so closely. Once they'd shared their secret with him, Mike had shown him Legends of the Wolf, the volume that held all the secrets to his ancestry. Not many people knew of its existence or would have had their interest piqued by it. To them, it would be just another reference volume.
