I said, grinning as I cut into the toast. I took a bite, then paused. Wait. Hold on. “Is that… cinnamon?” I asked, my eyes going wide. He nodded, suddenly looking a little too proud of himself. “And vanilla. I watched three YouTube videos just to make sure I didn’t poison you.” I blinked again. “YouTube videos.” “Don’t judge me, Ryan. I was a man on a mission.” Something warm unfurled. The kind of feeling I hadn’t let myself have around him for a long time. The kind of feeling that made me want to put the fork down and kiss him stupid.

Vanilla still had her forehead puckered. She helped him seat, then she set off for the forest, as she walked, she turned back to look at Conor but he wasn't even looking at her. My eyes widened even more. “Are you…” I pointed at the rabbit, then at the bananas, then at his legs. “You’re standing… and hunting?!” He let out a small breath, his eyes softening as he watched me struggle to understand what I was seeing.
