Vera Stanhope Book 12 Novels & Stories

Vera’s hack fed through, revealing Damon’s orders—attack Starfang’s perimeter at midnight, targeting their vault again. My wolf roared, my claws twitching, itching to tear into him. Vera’s voice crackled again. “I’ve got their signals locked,” she said, her tone fierce. “They’re moving now.” My heart raced, her skill a beacon, the bond sparking with every word. “I’m heading out, Gabriel. Meet you there.” “Vera, wait!” I said, my voice raw, but the comm cut, her stubbornness a fire in my chest. I cursed, my wolf whining, her courage both thrilling and terrifying.

When I was steady enough to stand on my own, Veronica stepped forward and pulled me into a quick embrace. “I was worried,” she said. “Me, too,” I admitted. I pulled back enough to look at her. “Nicholas said you followed the teleportation magic?” “It wasn’t easy,” Veronica said. “I wasn’t sure it was even possible, but I couldn’t give up. We’d lost Jane to Hawk, but I wouldn’t lose you. The book from the merpeople held many secrets. It helped.” I hugged her again. As we stood there, reunited and tired and relieved, we were joined by another – an official looking man wearing the colors of the bear kingdom.

I carefully untied the ribbon that held it closed, revealing a beautifully crafted cover with intricate patterns and symbols. As I opened the book, a gust of wind suddenly swept through the room, extinguishing the candle by my bedside. The darkness enveloped me, but I wasn't alone. Whispers echoed around me, growing louder and more urgent. I strained my ears to catch the words, desperately trying to make sense of them. "Veronica, you hold the key," the voice murmured, as if carried by the wind itself. "The truth lies within you." Intrigued and unnerved, I clutched the book tightly in my hands and began to read its faded words. The first sentence was Veronica, you hold the key. The voice was

* I took the document case and walked the rest of the way without looking back. Vera is maybe sixty, with short grey hair and eyes that take inventory of everything they land on. No jewelry. No ceremony robes. She's sitting at a plain folding table in a tent that could belong to any mid-level pack administrator, nothing on the walls, two chairs and a lamp. The spelled safe in the corner is the only thing that looks expensive. She watches me set the case on the table without moving. "Luna Whitmore," she says. "I've heard interesting things about you."

And she thought of her mother’s last years, the illness Vera only heard about after it was too late, the funeral she didn’t attend because she was too busy surviving a storm that had nearly drowned her. A storm named Asher Donovan. A storm she might never have escaped without the quiet, unwavering strength she’d built alone. Her throat tightened as her gaze sharpened on the letter. What could it hold? A confession? A plea for forgiveness? Or worse, polished excuses dressed in grief? Vera wasn’t sure her heart could survive the latter. She pressed her palms to her face, groaning softly. “God, just… stop thinking.” But she couldn’t. Her fingers twitched with restless energy until the silence i

The lights of the hall were dim, meaning everyone was asleep. A small sound caught my attention, and I looked around, my hands already at the back of my holster, on the gun. Just when something shifted in the dark hallway, I pulled the gun out. The lights were turned on. My eyes widened at the person standing in front of me. It was Helena Rossi, standing by the doorframe at my gunpoint. She didn’t flinch. Neither was there any hint of fear in her eyes. “I assume you are Adonis Vitale,” she said in a soft, yet authoritative voice, and I nodded. “I thought you’d be here earlier.”

I stared at the dark horizon as the sky turned black and the silence deepened. I must’ve sat there for hours, drained. Eventually, I lay on my back and looked up at the stars. They twinkled gently, like tiny promises in the sky, comforting my broken spirit. I was lost in that silence until a shadow crossed over my face. I looked up. Vera. She stood over me, one hand on her waist, the other on her hip. Her eyes stared down at me, lips twitching with unreadable emotion. She tapped her foot on the sand. My gaze dropped to her lips and lingered there.

Stella and I have been devising ways to get information on Sapphire. She has been trying to hack into her laptop and other devices, but something is stopping her. She has even tried hacking into the house's security, but so far, she has not been able to. Danello has had his men working on the same thing and has had the same problem as Stella. So far, they have yet to figure out why none of them can break through. Stella tried to explain what the issue could be, but I understood zero of what she was trying to explain to me. I can use technology and know what I need to, but what she was trying to explain was so fucking far over my head it gave me a headache.

Neither of then knew whether she wiuld be coming after seven years ago or she was going to come back soon enough. Elinda and the spy, whom people came to find out her name was Ana, were loathed by eveyone. Everywhere they went to, they were knocked aside as if they were some dustbins and chased away from people’s presence. All the pack member’s beileved, Karen had decided to go away because of them. Harriet, Peter, Kelvin and Patrilia, suck themselves into magic books and anciet libraries looking in there was anywhere written about raising then long gone souls.

hello all I just want to inform you that I by mistake got two new chapters mixed up with each other. and added chapter 20 before chapter 19. I fixed this and am only waiting for the editor to accept the changes. I apologize for the confusion also I read in some comments there was a bit of confusion about Aiden. for those who read the first book "the king and the rejected she-wolf" a while back you would know Aiden as the boy Kai that Mack adopted.
