Vera Stanhope Book 12 Novels & Stories

“She’s nothing but a thief who sought after another’s crown. A parasite preying on a sleeping god.” If I had cared about the packs politics bullshit, they would have tasted my wrath for what they did to her. But my war isn’t with them. My war is with her, the sleeping beauty on my bed. A shark knock suddenly rattles the heavy oak door. I dart my gaze forward, my brow knitting in irritation. “Come in” The door opens and Vera walks in. For the first time in decades, her expressionless face holds a faint, rigid tension. “There’s an issue, Master Vane.”

Sophia’s being hidden, and Anita; she’s floating somewhere down the Hudson. ⸻ Sareena Damian… I can hear him. I can feel him; his hand is holding mine. I can hear his voice. He’s here, right here beside me. But I can’t open my eyes. I can’t call out for him. I’m trying. Please… I’m trying. ⸻ Sophia

The door was closed and I could see light coming from underneath it. I pushed the door open and stepped inside. Vera was sitting on the bed, propped up against some pillows. She had a book in her hands and seemed completely focused on reading it. "You're back," Vera said without looking up from her book. I didn't respond. I just closed the door behind me and started walking toward the bathroom. "Luan," Vera said, finally looking up. "I said you're back." I still didn't say anything. I just kept walking, unbuttoning my shirt as I went.

🌹 12 🌹 Vera stretched in the soft feathery bed. She can't remember her bed being so cloudy and silky. She slowly sat up with a yawn as the silk linens around her lovingly caressed her soft skin. Vera looked around, a little doubtful. Why does today feel different? Her doors suddenly open and she jumped in fright. A long line of chefs assembled in, decorating her table with delicious food. “What's going on?” She frowned a little.

Blood seeped out and covered the wound in red. “Ah...” Vero winced in pain, then she wiped the blood on her clothes. As She was doing that, she heard footsteps behind her. Vero glared, then looked back quickly. No one. Her brow furrowed, and he squinted, looking down at the dimly lit part of the library. She was absolutely sure of what she heard. There is someone here with her. “Hello?” Vero slowly stood up and grabbed a thick book with her. She held the book in both hands and placed it in front of her body, using it as a shield.

Vera never wanted to take the ring off again. When she saw the diamond ring on her ring finger, everyone cheered for her, so she knew she made the right choice. But looking at it again and again, the ring is clearly big and small, and there is an empty space, making her feel strange, this diamond ring is like being attached on her finger, no matter what can be taken down. But today, until eleven o'clock, Elias still hadn't finished her work. Seeing that she had nothing to do, Vera took out her book and read it.Drowsiness came, Vera held the book like that, slowly closed her eyes, and fell asleep.

The crow of chaos rose. Guards screamed orders. Chains rattled. Vera, half-blinded by pain, forced herself to stand. The wolf’s breath filled her lungs. She turned and sprinted through the broken door, hearing shouts behind her. Stone corridors, a flash of torch, another collapsed guard. She vanished into the night. --- Sheltered at last in the chapel’s inner sanctum, Vera collapsed against a shattered altar. Gavriel knelt beside her, hands trembling as he tried to bandage her scraped knees with a scrap of cloth.

Her cheeks were a bright pink as she bit down on her lower lip, avoiding my gaze. I started strolling towards her like a prey, my gaze fixed and my hands to my sides. If she was a spy here from another mafia she would pay, no matter how petty she was I wasn't going to spare anyone who tried to break into my home. Vera's POV I looked up to see him taking calculative strides towards me and I panicked. I began walking back, my gaze never leaving him out of fear of him doing something unexpected. Now I've gotten myself in so much trouble.

Valerie entered the mansion, so beautiful and sophisticated it was just as she predicted, at the sitting room, There were to stair cases at both side, one for the guests and the other for the Library. Vera hopped towards the front and followed Valerie, when they reached the Library, there were hundreds of shelves, with millions of books like vera stated. She smiled and joy filled her smile, her void heart filled with happiness for once again, as she slides her fingers across the books and she furthered to pick a book, but a hand caught it instead. "This is Mira the cruellest mistress !" Vera quickly whispered, "How dare a lowly mistress comes into the sacrilegious Library of Lady Taylor and

Vera shook her head as if she could read my mind as she took a step towards me and grabbed my hand in hers. "No, no, I can see what you are thinking, my prince, but I don't want to live if it is without you. Yes, I want all of us to be safe and alive, but no, I don't want to go back to how my life once was. Cold and empty, mostly, except for these people," she whispered as she leaned closer to me, her eyes staring straight into mine and, for a second, I couldn't even breathe. Her violet verbena eyes were so intense I felt like I would drown inside her. I wouldn't mind, though.
