he said, looking at Coralis. “Ooh hey, Frank! I need to come to Montreal just to meet you. If you’re referring to the night she returned to you covered in vampire and goblin fluids from head to toe, yes, it was that night. The vase saga started about 2 weeks prior, but that night, Blue’s cursed replica got stolen and we took in the three prisoners I mentioned.” “Princess Veronica, right?” “Yes, but no. I’m Veronica to you. Blue told you about us, that means she needs to take you to The Bloody Velvet. Don’t worry, we won’t bite you.”

In my hesitation, Bridget had time to notice Veronica’s closeness, just as Veronica was reaching out her hand toward the notecard. “Something I can help you with, Veronica?” Bridget asked. She lifted the notecard and held it closer to her chest. She was aware of its presence now, and our attention on it. No way would Veronica be able to get close enough now to whisk it away without notice. Veronica lowered her hand without explanation. “No.” The servant who had taken our drink order returned with Veronica’s merlot and my empty glass. Veronica accepted her red wine and sipped deeply. I turned my empty glass away.

A younger Elara—still carrying herself with the confidence of a Stone Pack princess—was cornered in a bathroom by Veronica and three other female wolves. "What's wrong, Stone Pack princess?" Veronica taunted in the recording. "Not so proud now that everyone knows what you really are?" They forced Elara to her knees, her wolf already submitting despite her human form's attempt to remain dignified. Veronica produced a small vial containing what appeared to be silver-laced water. "Let's see how the mighty Stone Pack handles silver," she sneered. "Oh wait, you're not really Stone Pack at all, are you?" The other females held Elara's arms while Veronica grabbed her hair, yanking her head back. Th

Before Emma could reply to his words, Veronica stood up from the couch and came up to them, naturally standing next to Noah, and directly in front of Emma. She was even prettier up close. She was taller and leaner than Emma, and was overall quite intimidating. "If you want to be angry, please be angry at me," Veronica whispered, her fingers lightly brushing Noah's sleeve as if seeking protection. "It's entirely my fault. I came back so late tonight and they all insisted on welcoming me. Don't argue with Noah because of this." With an elegant, unhurried motion Veronica picked up a freshly poured glass of wine from the table and extended it toward Emma, a small smirk on her mouth. "Let's just

"Luna. May I come in?" "No." "Then I'll say it here." She didn't seem bothered by the rejection. "I know you're struggling. The pack is struggling. Everyone's waiting for verification that won't come in time." "Get to the point." "I have a solution." Her eyes glittered. "A way to settle this tonight. To prove beyond any doubt whether this child is real." I went still. "What solution?" "Your blood." Veronica's smile widened. "The miraculous blood that heals silver poisoning. The blood that can control vampires. I've heard the stories, Luna. Everyone has."

"I was thinking since your master or your king is great with potions and medicines. How about you give me the potion that will make me look like Kelly to Sebastian? The potion of illusion shapeshifting. If you could get me that potion, I can assure you that I will definitely break them apart within this week. Then you would have the perfect window of opportunity to attack. Both of the leaders, Kelly and Sebastian will be heartbroken and the sudden surprise attack definitely promises you guys a quick and clean victory. You can have that dumb Kelly and I will be the new Luna of the Ocean pack" Veronica laid out her perfect plan for Boston. Boston loved anything evil, and that plan was pure evi

“Help me how? “June asked with an aggravated tone. “By setting me up with a bracelet and telling everyone that I stole it from you? Or letting your homophobic boyfriend and his friends throw garbage on me? “ “Listen. I am sorry for all the crap I put you through. But now we can be together. Vic is in a coma after what you did to him. Now that he is out of the picture, we can be together, “ “I put him in a coma. That is awful. But even if I did not, I still cannot trust you, “ Veronica caressed June's hands as her eyes began to glow red. “Yes, you can, “ “Listen, Veronica,” June sad. “We have been down this road before, and I am always getting the short stick of it. No matter how much I like

I curled my toes, pushing deeply into him, closing my eyes till phosphenes stained my vision. I released, my viscid fluid filling his insides. “What the fuck!?” Veronica's voice tore through the room. My eyes bulged out as I pushed Joshua off me. I pulled the sheets, wiping the cream off me and wrapping it around my waist. “Veronica, it's not what you think,” I rushed toward her my hands extended. Her eyes darted between me and Joshua who tried to bury himself in the duvet. My fingers grazed her arm and she snapped toward me, the fury glazing and blazing heatedly.

Finally, she said, “Add a zero to the fifty, and I’ll do it.” Veronica’s smirk widened. Without a word, she opened her designer handbag and handed the girl a small vial. “No room for mistakes,” she warned, her voice icy. “Emma Martinez is the target.” --- A few minutes later, the waitress returned to Veronica with a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. “It’s done,” she said simply, as if she were reporting on a completed homework assignment. Veronica’s face lit up with satisfaction. She pulled out her checkbook and wrote down the amount the waitress had asked for, adding an extra twenty dollars in cash for transportation. She handed it over with a smug grin, as if she were rewarding someone for

“I make no promises.” They sat on logs around the fire. Veronica tucked herself against Ethan’s side, legs stretched toward the warmth. Luca handed her a perfectly golden marshmallow sandwiched between graham crackers and chocolate. She took a bite, sweetness exploding on her tongue. For a while the conversation stayed light. Mara talked about the play, a modern adaptation of Antigone that she was directing as well as starring in. Luca described a new drone design he had seen online, something with folding wings and solar skin. Ethan listened, asked questions, teased them gently. Veronica watched the firelight move across their faces and felt a quiet gratitude so deep it ached.
