On the underside of her forearm, pale against her skin, was a mark. It was faint, almost translucent, but unmistakable: a crescent moon, curved and delicate, glowing faintly as though lit from beneath her flesh. Evelyn stumbled back from the mirror, clutching her wrist. The mark pulsed once, in rhythm with her heartbeat, before fading to nothing more than a faint silver shimmer. Her throat went dry.

Noah looked back and saw the first two glare at Noah as they flew and he stuck his tongue out at them then went back to following Venux. Venux looked ahead and stared at Venux a bit. She was beautiful, with long pale violet faded white hair, a pale purple dress with white lace on the trims, the sleeves were more of cups just sticking to her skin and revealing her shoulders, bright golden halo, and lace that followed her everywhere for protection. Venux wasn't only gorgeous and pretty but she was also kind-hearted and sweet, and that's why Noah liked having a friend like her.

A young worker stood in the doorway, flushed from running down the hall. “Message for the Athena wing,” he announced breathlessly. “From the Luna.” My heart kicked painfully. Waters stood. Clearway straightened. The worker read from the slip in his hand: “The Luna requests the presence of all pack members, servants, attendants, and slaves in the central hall at midday. An urgent address.” Silence fell. Thea’s breath caught. Clearway’s brows knit. “Urgent?” Waters exchanged a worried glance with her. “The Luna never calls full-house gatherings unless… unless something serious is happening.”
