Born Rogue
My neck aches as a searing wave of pain passes through it, and everything goes black.
I jolt awake in bed again, launched into consciousness by the pain I felt. It quickly fades, and I realize I am once again in my childhood room. The bed looks bigger, though. Slipping out of bed, I soft pad over to the mirror and stare at my reflection. I look even younger than I did when I woke up previously. There is a calendar stuck to the wall above my desk, a habit I stopped years ago. I check the date and discover that I am not turning twelve today, like I thought, but eleven. This is weird. I have never grown younger in nightmares before this. Perhaps it has something to do with the curse.
