But I don't sleep well. The nightmares come again. Worse this time. Voices. Screaming. Fire. Blood. A woman shouting my name. Telling me to run. I wake up gasping. Covered in sweat. Ryker is already awake. Holding me. "Shh. You're safe. I've got you." I cling to him. Trembling. "It's getting worse," I whisper. "The nightmares. The visions. All of it." "I know. He loosens his grip on the table and begins to play with his sleeves. "There is a wolf." My eyes close, the exhaustion of the last few nights starting to get to me. In those nightmares Aurora came to drag me out of bed, and into the dungeon. There I am beaten, and whipped by everyone in my life. I am screamed at. I am told how worthless I am. That I am a stain on everyone’s life. That I deserve to die. I always wake up screaming, and in a cold sweat. Usually Beta Jax, and Molly are standing or sitting by me, trying to calm me. Before it got worse. I would intend to ask my mom if I could stay home or pretend to be sick. But I couldn’t. I fought every morning. But nothing changed in a positive way. I could only say less and less. It didn’t help that I couldn’t sleep. Every time I started to feel sleep pull me, I was immediately ripped into the middle of a nightmare. The themes were the same. The most harrowing part is that I am unable to escape this torment, even in the safety of my dreams. Not with those treacherous nightmares kicking every amount of sleep I had left. I rolled a training mat on the floor and began to do press ups. If I didn’t sleep then I wouldn’t have nightmares of Riven dying or my brothers covered in blood. The next morning came quicker than I wanted it to come.
