(CARLTON’S POV) I’m wearing Caleb’s style tonight. I’m dressed like him, look like him, and act like him. He’s been dead for two days. But it feels like yesterday. Carl signaled his guards to engage the attackers outside while he rushed toward the clinic in the left wing. At the staircase, he saw Cane fending off werewolves, trying to protect the clinic. “Carl! Go help Grandfather—he’s guarding the main door! I can handle these ones!” Cane shouted. Carl didn't hesitate. He ran toward the entrance—only to find a horrifying sight. Master Landon, covered in blood, was hanging from the clinic door. Carl rushed forward, lowering the old man into his lap. Tears welled in his eyes. “Grandfather… you’re safe now,” he cried.

He moved so quickly I barely had time to react before his hand was around my throat, squeezing hard. "That’s just your werewolf propaganda!" he snarled. "The truth is you’ve been stealing our land, enjoying what rightfully belongs to us! Now, it’s time for the foxes to reclaim what’s theirs!" My vision began to blur as my lungs screamed for air. I could feel my body weakening, my legs kicking out instinctively. The once pristine white of my dress was now smeared with dirt, a stark contrast against the dingy surroundings. "And anyone who stands in our way," Carl continued, his voice ice-cold, "will be eliminated."

Carl was wise and sharp to know that something was going on when he disappeared. Carl met a lot of ghosts and demons in different stages- such as ghosts one step away from becoming a demon, fully demonized souls, and half demonized souls- a lot of times due to the nature of his position in the haunted mansion. So Carl could tell the demon's breath in Lucas long ago. But because Carl treated Lucas sincerely as his friend, he did not report it to anyone in the haunted mansion and kept it to himself. He doesn't want to witness his friend being treated as their backup food.

I dissipate my sword, kneeling to press on his bleeding wound. "Help," I shout, looking around. Our group of soldiers, standing guard at the common sitting area of the fifth floor, were all dead. Raul's eyes become droopy. "Help, someone help! Please!" Caroline, in her white tank top and light mint green mini shorts, is the first to arrive at the violent scene, who mind-links Carl for assistance. Adrian rushes past her a few seconds later, wearing only his red tartan plaid boxers. He kneels, pulling me to his chest, away from the now inert Raul, while his eyes witness the dead bodies.

Halfway to the staircase, we met Carl walking out of his room. He had a blue shiny suit on, with his black curly hair shining under the white light. I could smell his strong vanilla cologne beating that of Max effortlessly. “You look stunning, son,” Max confirmed my admiration, but Carl only looked at his brother before he shut his door and walked down the stairs.
