We still grab a meal together from time to time. Among the four of us, the oldest, Edgar Maguire, was unassuming and kind. He always looked out for us, and we treated him like an older brother. He came from a village and was an orphan that the whole community helped raise. He studied hard, and whenever he had time, he took on part-time jobs to save up for tuition and living expenses. When we were interning, he was the first to land an offer. But the good times didn't last. Three days ago, Edgar was murdered in his apartment. The killer still hasn't been found.

I have been disowned by the Salvatores. I had no one. Not even the man I had grown to love and care for. I was truly alone. Truly, utterly alone. Though, no one except Lorenzo had blamed me for Maggie's death. I hadn't been able to get over the guilt. I didn't understand why I blamed myself but a part of me knew it was my fault too. “Maggie has to die too otherwise I will die.” “I don’t believe you.” Axel pushed past him and started to open the door when clawed hands crashed through the mahogany door, splinters of wood fell on the other side and the clawed hand reached in to twist the brass knob. When the door opened it was Ezekiel who walked in and he immediately stared at Lance. “I’m sure you’ve heard then?” Ezekiel asked him. Lance didn’t have to ask, he knew he was referring to the new information that Maggie died with her father. He nodded.

I held her hands and tried to comfort her. "Maggie, just stay with her. I want to get some fresh air." I walked out of the room. My head was so stuffed with a lot of things. I sincerely didn't know what to do at this point; who knows if Robert would partner with her and just try to break me more? I sighed in relief. The whole world was silent when I suddenly heard a loud scream. I ran into the house; I couldn't believe my eyes. My mom was lying lifeless in Maggie's arms. Blood was coming out of her nose and mouth.

I whisper as I try to gather myself feeling my cheeks heat up once more. "Well if you didn't have to go and be such a dick we could have already been at the infirmary and you would have seen it for yourself!" Emma yells at Jaxon. "See what?" He stands tall as he leans over the top of her trying to be intimidating. Emma squares her shoulders and stands up in his face until their noses are almost touching. "Maggie is dead."
