The girl looked into the visor of the Human Base Tech, seeing only emptiness in those eyes. Assessment day has always been Squad Alpha's favorite day. Five years since that night on the forest road. I had woken two days later in a strange infirmary bed. Bandages wrapped tight around my abdomen. An IV line in my arm. Alpha Kai of Crestwood Pack had found the wrecked car during a routine border sweep. He had carried me to his healers himself. I remembered crying in his arms, begging him to save my baby first. But the look in his eyes told me everything I was too afraid to hear. There was no baby. The trauma cracked something open inside me. My wolf, sealed away since childhood by some magic I still didn't understand, finally woke. She was fierce and protective, flooding me with senses I'd never known I lacked.

"It means the Moonborn has returned." Before I could respond, a howl echoed through the forest. Then another. And another. Soon, the entire forest was filled with howls. Alex looked toward the sky. "What is happening?" The stranger smiled. "Every pack is awakening." My heart sank. "Why?" "Because your power has been released." He looked at me. "And now every Alpha knows you're alive." I stared at him. "What happens now?" He took a deep breath. "Now the war begins." I looked at Alex.

They started assigning members to their position. Twilight discussed with Captain M, while the members ready their equipments. * Farrah woke up with something holding her waist. Once it dawned on her, she immediately opened her eyes and looked at the thing wrapped in her waist, and when she saw it was an arm, she almost let out a scream. Following the arm, her eyes landed on a familiar face, with familiar-looking eyes. Farrah's heart gave a loud bang, the moment she caught those clear and joyful eyes.

Outside the window, the sun was setting in colors of crimson and gold, painting the forest in shades that promised both beauty and blood.
