He informed me as he held it out for me to take. I delicately took it from him when I saw how old and fragile it looked, with the binding of it covered in dust. I stared at the cover which was a dark blue, and an engraved Golding band around the edge with a sketch of a black wolf in the middle. Just above the wolf it said, ‘The sacred wolves of the night’. “Are there any books on the other breeds of wolves?”. I asked him curiously. “No, just that one, and if you give it a read, you’ll soon find out why”.

Like someone had placed it there for me to find. My fingers curled around the book. I lifted it slowly, carefully opening the cover. There was no title. Just brittle pages covered in faded script and lunar markings. Symbols I didn’t recognise. In the middle of the book, tucked between a page of symbols and another of warnings, I saw it. A story of a wolf with a soul that refused to leave the world of the living. It told of a warrior who died in battle, his body cold, his mate devastated. But she didn’t let go.

The ‘real’ book cover, the one hidden under cherry blossoms was a half naked man, He had no shirt and showed tight muscles. all over his torso were tattoos His hand enclosed the throat of a blonde girl, she was dressed in a shirt probably his because of how large it is. Her head is thrown back in obvious pleasure and the title is ‘Choke me Harder.’ Definitely nothing a sophisticated young miss should read.

It was nothing like I ever saw. I picked the book of shining light. It was a big book and it had such an inscribed and ancient design. On the cover, there was an evil looking being and an angelic being. They each were on fighting positions. It’s like they wanted to attack each other. Curiosity led me to open the book. My fingers stopped working when the pages of the book flipped open by themselves. I was astounded. It stopped at a page. A page I desperately read. And so it was said, that every millennium.
