As we descended into the subterranean colosseum, the noise became overwhelming. Two thousand warriors filled the stone tiers of the cavern. These were the Shadow Warriors—the battle-scarred outcasts of the Dead Woods. They were alphas, betas, and omegas who had been rejected by their birth packs, criminals who had survived the brutal winter wilderness, and veterans of forgotten border wars. They didn't wear uniforms; they wore heavy furs, iron chains, and leather straps over bodies covered in jagged claw scars. They were savage, and radiated a volatile pressure.

It was 400 warriors loaded in SUVs, vans, and buses. Grayson looks at the sky and pictures Sebastian's beautiful face. He pictures his favorite moment from the last few days and closes his eyes, allowing that moment to play again in his head like a movie. He lays with his head resting on the edge of Sebastian's nest. His hand hangs inside, fingers trailing the sleepy Delta 3’s face. “Bastian,…” Grayson softly calls to his mate. “Baastian,” Grayson softly calls his name again, drawing the “A” out a little longer. The Delta turns his face, trying to hide it in the pile of clothes surrounding him.

She wasn't recording or broadcasting; she was Trending. "Darlene, look at the pack," Eryx growled, his voice a distorted, gravelly baritone. I looked beyond the square. The thousand warriors of the Grey Pack were no longer standing in formation. They were wandering through the village, but they weren't talking. They were gesturing at the air, their iridescent fur shimmering with a new, artificial brilliance. Every time one of them smiled or shared a memory of a victory, the world around them grew more vibrant—the trees taller, the sky a deeper blue.

“But I will give you a clue.” Grey neared his face and whispered. “War.” Ryder attempted another punch but Grey blocked it with his wrist. The impact produced electricity and sparked a mini-explosion that sent Ryder to the grass. Ryder was trembling, but not with fear of the one in front of him who was supposed to be dead yet alive and kicking, not even with the fact that the conjurers had infiltrated Khenealm. He was afraid of that one word which only had three letters. “The war has long been won,” Ryder said in a deep voice. He didn’t sound satisfied. Who would be, when the war cost too many lives.

Behind him, ten warriors stand like statues, their uniforms neat, their expressions unreadable. Beside him, Alpha Dorian Vex emerges, adjusting the cuffs of his black leather coat. Unlike Elias, Dorian carries an aura of cool confidence rather than brute force. His high cheekbones and sharp, calculating eyes make him appear almost regal. His jet black hair is slicked back, a single silver streak cutting through one side. He wears a fitted black combat suit with a silver wolf emblem stitched over his heart. His ten warriors follow him closely, their matching dark attire giving them a ghostly presence.

The news arrived with Garrett at dawn. Silvercrest warriors had been spotted at the eastern border. Not scouts, a full company, perhaps sixty strong, moving fast and with the organized aggression of wolves who had been given a specific objective. Darius was with them. He had been seen at the front of the formation.

I raise my eyebrow at him, but he just shakes his head. “I have one more announcement. Our own Maddison Gray found her mate yesterday as well. Trevor is the Lead Warrior with the Canyon Ridge Pack, so while we are gaining a doctor, we are losing one of our best gardeners. Thankfully, we have a strong alliance with both packs, and we’ll continue to work together and see members from those packs.” There’s a lot of congratulations and back slapping for Trevor, and some tears for Maddison, I’m guessing from her garden crew.

“I’ll even come and visit with you.” Darius smiled. “You will?” “Yeah of course, since you seem to be comfortable around the Spell-Blades and all.” “Well only with the ones you have here, the others are not so nice and I wouldn’t trust them, and would have killed them on the spot.” He smiled. “I want to introduce you to the two warriors I want to send with you when you do leave.” “Okay.” Jade smiled. “This is Kaden and Dillion.” He said. “Both top warriors.”
