"Kill him! Kill him! Kill this fake Isidore!" "Liar!" I shouted. Flames erupted from my mouth, scaring countless warriors into running away from me. I spread my wings as I spewed fire and flew toward Galen. My wings were fully spread, and they were longer than my body. As I flew, I blocked out a large part of the sun. The warriors looked up at me in shock from my shadow. I have grown accustomed to my wings. Flying high, gliding, landing, turning. I use my wings as deftly as I use my hands. They have been completely accepted by my body as my new organs.

“I know you aren’t a fan of asking for favors but I think the time has come to call in Hawk. He is the only one I know that has the means to protect her.” I weighed his words carefully. Hawk owed me a few favors, and we had worked together in the past, but I have never asked him to be a part of our network. Hawk had a good heart, but there were special circumstances which is why he was not involved with Clipped Wings. Whiz was right though; Hawk did have the means to protect Ophelia. As I thought it over the idea became more appealing to me because since Hawk was not involved in the organization then hardly anyone besides Whiz and myself would know where she was.

Leo’s POV I heard the loud clatter of a tray landing on the floor. It was so loud that it made Nova and myself startled. The maid let out a scream and ran out of there. We both quickly ran inside only to see Miss Warrior laying there motionless. A few minutes ago she was there standing firmly and asking questions to the maid with the sharp look she always wore. And now she was laying on the ground, limp like a puppet without any string. My breath hitched, as I stood there like I was frozen. My body was not able to move, my mind couldn't make sense of what had just happened. Miss Warrior wasn’t supposed to fall. She has always been strong. She never stood behind but in front of others.

Serena's POV Ten years later. Silver City. I stood by the floor-to-ceiling window in my top-floor office at The Claws headquarters, looking down at the city that never slept. The neon lights below flickered like stars scattered across the night. "Ms. Serena, congratulations on winning 'Security Strategist of the Year' again," my assistant, Maya, walked in, holding a heavy invitation. "That's the fifth time." The fifth time. In ten years, I’d gone from a heartbroken girl to a legend in the world of werewolf security.

The sentence should’ve made me feel small. It didn’t. It made me furious. “So what,” I said, “you go alone, you hand them the file, and we pray they keep their word?” Renaud’s mouth twitched. “I don’t pray to liars.” He turned to the war-room wall where the monitors lived and pressed a button. A layout of the riverfront warehouses appeared: camera feeds, satellite view, street access. “We run a controlled exchange,” he said. “Two decoys. One real case. Overwatch. Exits blocked without being obvious.”

Whirr. Drones descended, mechanical eyes glowing red. “Marcus, activate East Wing shields. Total blackout. Leo, get in the bunker,” Phoenix commanded. She watched the first line of Moon Pack warriors clash with the shadow-wolves at the treeline. Snarls, ozone, and danger surged through her senses. Kael held the front line, black blur of teeth and claws, fighting a dozen attackers simultaneously. Phoenix pressed her hand to the glass. Heat radiated from the distant fires, vibrating through the pane. Her heart hammered—a drum of war and dread.

And with all the training I had received since joining the Gamma Warrior program, I could keep my shapely body and build strength and stamina. Once I am officially 21, I can formally join the ranks of our Gamma's Warrior System. I'll try to simplify it. There are five classes in total, which are your training phase. We can start as early as 16-17 to prepare for our first shift on the first full moon after our 18th birthday—classes 1 and 2 specialized in strength, stamina, and pain endurance training. Shifting is a nasty business, not to forget the pain.

Jake speaks confidently. Manuel is nodding. He would know what the warriors could do, as he was one of our lead warriors and one of our best, along with Gabe. Saying that, their Dads were the same, having only retired a few years ago, so if anything did happen they would no doubt still be capable fighters and capable of holding their own. “Hopefully the warriors will not need to fight, but the fact they will be on call is the key to our safety and our success” Jake says.
