The dragon shifted closer to her, his scales brushing against her shoulder. “The Hollow Blade,” he said quietly, a low rumble beneath the roar of the dying flames, “cannot be controlled by fear. It demands understanding, discipline… and submission to its fire. Do you understand that?”
“I… think so,” she whispered, though doubt gnawed at her.
“And what of Axel?” she asked, voice breaking slightly. “He… he cares for me. Will he understand what must be done?”
