Watch Not Without My Daughter Novels & Stories

My older sister Mia was sweet and affectionate, while I was the “smart, independent” one who supposedly needed no one. For my high school graduation, my parents promised me a trip to Hawaii. I packed a month early and planned everything. But the night before we left, Mia decided to bring Luke, my childhood sweetheart. There wasn’t room for both of us, so Mom canceled my ticket. “Mia and Luke had a fight a few days ago. They need this trip to work things out.” My brother pushed my packed suitcase toward Mia. “Take hers. It has everything you need.” Luke had once been the only person who never used my independence as a reason to leave me behind. But after he met Mia, he began making excuses fo

On the morning of the college entrance exam, my daughter surprised me by asking for a ride to school. She was usually much closer to her mother, so when she suddenly turned to me, I canceled my work plans without hesitation. “Don’t be nervous, Ivy. I’ll be right here when you’re done.” I watched her walk into the school, then returned to my car. When the test let out, students streamed through the doors. Some looked confident, while others seemed crushed. I waited anxiously for Ivy. But as the crowd thinned, she was nowhere to be seen. I assumed the test had gone badly and she was too upset to face me. I hurried over to a school security officer and asked him to help find her. He ra

He replied, leaning back in his seat. I clenched my jaw, the muscles ticking as my grip tightened on the glass, "I almost lost my daughter. She just stood there, watching a little child slowly die such a horrible death. And you expect me to overlook it?" The glass in my hand creaked under the pressure of my grip, and I forced myself to set it down before it shattered.

The man looked briefly at the receptionist and then back at Willow. "We found tracks around your house. Strange tracks," Shawn said. "Footprints?" "More like animal footprints. And there's more than one, we're not sure yet." "And Zoey?" "Surveillance cameras everywhere haven't picked up Zoey. But we're doing our best to keep looking for your daughter." Willow buried her head in her hands and sobbed uncontrollably. There was no way she could think positively, that the worst would not happen. She wasn't blind to the fact that there were many terrible things that happened to kidnapped girls out there.

They were trying to find out what happened to their daughter, but it turned out, the hotel’s cameras didn’t work in Zheira’s room. “I’m really terribly sorry, Madame! We’re going to fix this. We promise!” The manager bowed, again and again, not daring to look at Melinda’s contorted face. “I just can’t understand, Mr. Sales. My daughter’s room is the only room without a proper C.C.T.V. Why is that?” Melinda crossed her arms and raised her brows. Robert, on the other hand, rubbed her shoulders. “We don’t know that too. It was working pretty well before your daughter comes in—” He stopped when Melinda squared her shoulders. She was standing straight. It did not give an impression, though. Her h

Watching the car with her parents inside burned into ashes. “Wow”, I whispered with amazement, I wish Echo was here to watch with me but I needed to go now before someone would notice me watching the crime. I drive away, leaving the red car burning and the daughter grieving. They went all crazy because something happened that they didn’t expect in the middle of the night that woke them all.

And then my daughter, who had never in her life had a father, took one small step toward the man who had spent five years not knowing he was one. That was when I saw the others. Movement at the treeline, up where Zev had come through — figures, wolves and shifted humans, drawn by his howl, the pack pouring silently down through the trees to see what had brought their Alpha to his knees in the snow. Dozens of them, gathering at the edge of the clearing, and I felt every eye land on us, on me, on the impossible returned Luna and the gray-eyed child taking her first step toward the Alpha. And somewhere in that crowd of faces I couldn't yet make out, I knew — I knew — one of them was watching th

"I was told they got into her dad's and Dan's storage. They downloaded and sent you anything they had in them. Nothing was watched." Staring at the videos, I don't click them. If I do, then what? I'm already failing at controlling my emotions. Sucking in a breath, I hit play. I watch as her father walks away from the camera. The room is empty. Sitting, I keep my eyes on it.

"We're mates. We're supposed to face things together." "Are we?" Finally, she looked at me. Her eyes were red. "Every time I see you, I see her. I see the moment I asked you to watch her, and you said yes. I see you distracted by Marcus, talking about border patrols while our daughter wandered into darkness." The words hit like claws. "Nadia—"

I can feel her smile through the screen. The elevator doors close. The numbers light up. We descend. Five. Four. Three. Two. One. Someone is watching. Someone is always watching. Someone has been watching for years, from the shadows, from the fire escape, from the trees, from the dark, from the basement, from the hallway, from the hospital across the street. Someone has been waiting for this moment. But tonight, I go home. I hold my daughter. I sleep in the rocking chair beside her crib. I listen to her breathe. I count her breaths. I watch her chest rise and fall.
