It was overwhelming. My knees hit the ground before I even realized what was happening. All around me, the same thing happened. One by one. Row by row. Everyone fell. Students. Spectators. Even the strongest among them. No one resisted. No one could. It wasn’t a choice. It was instinct. It was a submission. It was respect. It was reverence. My head lowered slightly, my heart pounding in my chest as the weight of it pressed down on me. And then, a whisper.

As Adrian situated himself behind me to comfortably lean against. Carden sat in front of me. We spent several hours in the quiet as I read. Adrian helped me up in one smooth motion and took the now finished book. The motion no matter how smooth it was made me start to fall forward. I was ready for it with my arms reaching for the ground to catch myself. "Woah there," Carden caught me as he was standing up. He moved me up into his arms. Adrian followed off to the right. He looked back to Adrian, "Do those falling things happen a lot?"

I was moving too fast to be able to halt and I ended up tripping and falling to the ground. With a scream, I banged my head against the leg of someone's desk and the contents of my bag came spilling. Someone tittered. "Serves her right," a girl's voice whispered. "That's where she belongs, at our feet." "I hope this will teach her to stay where she belongs, in the gutters with the rest of her kind." Tears filled my eyes and I climbed to my knees and began to frantically gather my books into my bag, only to discover that the fall had caused the remaining hand of my bag to break.

Everything inside me goes still. My mind tries to reject it, but my body reacts first. My eyes stay locked on the words in disbelief. My knees buckle. The book falls from my hand and lands on the floor with a heavy thud. I barely feel myself going down. One second ago I was standing, and now I am on the ground. The cold stone bites into my palms as I try to steady myself too late. The hidden library looks like what they haven’t taken care of in a long while, so the floor looks dirty and rusted.

With a final defiant flourish, the pages slipped free, descending towards the ground like confetti at a forgotten celebration. Heart pounding, I bent down to retrieve the fallen book, my mind still reeling from the profound revelations I had just absorbed. Yet, as I reached out, ready to reclaim the weighty tome, my eyes widened in astonishment. Standing before me was a figure, a silhouette cast in the flickering shadows of the library's dimly lit corners.

My foot caught on a slick patch of pavement, and in an instant, my world turned upside down. I stumbled forward, books flying in every direction, and for what felt like an eternity, time slowed. First I wobble on my feet when I try to reach higher and grab the tampon which of course makes me lose balance, I try to keep myself from falling by holding onto the woman’s shoulders but that is an even more terrible idea because she obviously hates me and wants me off her body as soon as possible.
