The doctor patted my leg gently in a bid to gain my attention. With his creepy smile in place, he clicked the flashlight in his hand. “I’m going to check your vitals now. One of my colleagues is going to get your pulse. If you could, simply follow the light with your eyes.”
While following his instructions, I let my magic fan out across the room. A myriad of fears danced across the tip of my tongue like little bursts of electricity. Fear of the ocean, fear of losing one’s family, fear of being fired, fear of death—now that one was amusing.
