PROLOGUE Kehlani flipped he eyes open and jerked her body off the bed with utmost alacrity and urgency. Her heart thumped loudly. Too loud she was scared it would throb out of her chest which may have been why she rubbed in with her palm in a circular motion. Another bad dream. As we go to bed, I find myself wondering if we can really make this work somehow or are we trying to bite off more than we can swallow? In the middle of the night, I have strange dreams of our kind fighting humans, witches, and vampires. It seems so vivid that I am sure it is real, but when I wake up in a sweat, I realize that it is not. It was just realistic.
