“I have nowhere else to go.” I feel it instantly, the broken edges, the isolation that clings to him despite his formidable presence. I step forward, offering a smile that I hope carries warmth, patience, and the invitation to trust. “Then you’ve found a home,” I say softly. “Welcome to the Haven of Shadows.”

When Julia regained consciousness, the stinging smell of disinfectant allowed her to confirm she was in the hospital. The door to the hospital room opened, and Elijah appeared in the doorway carrying a container of food. Their eyes met, and he exclaimed with surprise, "Julia, you're awake! Are you feeling any discomfort?" Elijah's eyes were bloodshot, and his chin was covered in stubble. His hair was messy, and he was still wearing the same clothes he had on during the accident, but they were all crumpled now.

“Make sure Wesley and Nina are well ‘taken care of.’ Also, keep the media’s focus on Nina. Dig up all her past scandals and keep the heat on her.” Meanwhile, Tara was still on her flight. She loved sleeping on long trips, whether by car or plane. After admiring the sea of clouds outside the window, she dozed off. A soft yawn escaped her lips as she slowly opened her eyes, still groggy. Something dangled in front of her face, gently swaying. Blinking a few times, her vision focused on the object: her watch. Startled, she snapped to full alertness. Following the hand holding the watch, she locked eyes with a pair of deep, sapphire-blue irises.

At the Cape Town light she couldn’t see but that he’d described, sharper, decisive, knowing what it was doing. She looked at him. At the person she loved. Who had gone and come back. Who had watched his mother stand up for his father. Who had said home without qualification. “Welcome back,” she said softly. He looked at her. The real smile. “Good to be back,” he said.

How could he possibly stomach such humiliation? When that glaring exclamation mark appeared on his phone, the emotions he had suppressed for so long finally exploded. Blinded by reckless fury, he could no longer remember what he had said. Then, there was Yuliana. She had appeared before him with ocean-blue eyes so clear that they seemed to hold the sea itself. Perhaps it was her steady, unflinching gaze that reached into his cold, hollow heart and gave him the courage to burn every bridge behind him. He grabbed her wrist and announced to the stunned guests below, "This woman is my bride."

She was gasping in excitement as her eyes swirled and changed color to a dark shade of gray, giving us a view of her wolf’s eyes. "Hunter! My wolf’s name is Arrow!" Her voice was so excited and I reveled in the beautiful gray eyes that were beaming at us. Fuck! She and Arrow looked too adorable when they were this excited. My cheeks were hurting again from the wide smile I had on my face. I cupped her cheeks, my wolf's eyes boring deep into hers. "Hello there, Arrow! I can't wait to see you!" I brushed my thumbs over her skin as we got lost in the moment, just letting our wolves stare at each other.

"Ssh... I know how it feels. But you need to remember her with good. You have to remember the happy memories only and let go of the bad ones. Come on, take the bad feelings in hand and throw them in the water." Abigail takes a deep breath, then looks me straight in the eyes. She's at least a head shorter than me and right now I feel her so tiny in my hands. "Thank you, James." She only whispers and I see the agony in her eyes. The irony is she has two blue oceans on her face and they're full of the pain her mother was telling her to throw in the ocean. I stare into her eyes and bow down. An urgent feeling to kiss her gets over me. And I swear, for a moment I think she stands on her tiptoes.

Joy was painted on her glowing amber eyes. "Good day to see you, lovelies! Come in, come in!" She greeted them in high spirits. They responded through small smiles. At that time, their eyes glistening with tears never bothered her. She was unfailingly fixated on the duffel bags they carried which contained weekly supplies and a dozen presents. "Whoa! I love it! Aweee-some!" She squealed upon unwrapping the gift wrap and discovering the Barbie doll inside. Later on, she would exclaim, "YUM-YUM!"

I think I'm going to stay for just two days at this school. I was about riding off when my eye caught a passenger in the front of the bus. the only passenger there actually. Her head was leaned on the window and her eyes were closed but I could tell she wasn't sleeping cause she kept smiling and scrunching her nose and I could have sworn I saw her pout her lips for a split second. As if she had just kissed somebody. It's like she's day dreaming and In that moment She looked so peaceful like nothing could harm her.

"Let's return to our country." Just like that, Marcus and I secretly returned to our country. After dropping him off at Lambert Manor, I headed to Lucy's place right away. The sight of Cher's tear-streaked face made me visibly relax. "Stop crying, Cher. At this rate, you'll become a pufferfish from all the crying!"
