He huffs once upon seeing me, blinking great brown eyes, and startled, Tom takes a few steps back.
“Shall I call a—ah—animal control, sir??
I watch as the woodland monarch inclines his head slightly. He really is a magnificent creature. If he weren’t such a dick. “You said he asked for me.”
“He uh—he did, sir. I don’t really know how.” Tom stammers, then adds, “Oh crap. I’ve lost my mind.”
“No. You haven’t. Give me ten minutes here, okay?”
“Of course, Triumvir.” Relieved, Tom hurries back the way we came.
