Came a frustrated and angry voice "Mom, look I brought this flower for you," Ana said and forward her small left hand because she got hurt in her right hand while plucking the red rose for her mom The woman gritted her teeth and snatched the flower from her hand and throw it breaking the small heart.

Her own mother had just left; dropped her off at a fire station when she was barely two and walked away. Poppy had a fuzzy memory of that: it had been late at night. She’d been holding a ratty, dirty blanket and a stuffed bunny that had seen better days. Her mom had smelled of cheep perfume and cigarette smoke and beer. Mom said jokingly as I hugged her tightly. I disengaged from the hug and sat by her side. She turned her gaze to Mary, who’s standing at the doorsteps. “Are you not going to greet me?” Mom said to Mary, who beamed with joy immediately she heard that, and she quickly rushed closer to her and hugged her. She slowly caressed Mary's cheeks, flashing her a wide smile. “It’s a good thing that you came to us instead of your demon sister. If perhaps Cassius had married her, I wonder if perhaps we all would have survived.”
