I leaned back in the chair, dragging a hand through my hair as I swallowed hard.
“I don’t know what to do without you,” I said softly. “You’ve always been the one who kept me steady. You taught me how to lead, how to fight… how to...breathe when everything was falling apart.” My voice cracked.
“What am I supposed to do if you’re not here?”
The room didn't answer, just the silence.
After a long and shuddering inhale, I wiped my face on my sleeve and forced myself to keep talking… because if this was all I had left, I wasn’t wasting a second.
