Dramatically. Mine is such a story. It’s no sadder or deeper than anyone else’s. It’s just life, and I how I choose to respond to it, I have realized, is what really matters. When something unexpected comes your way, take a step back, take a look around at the whole picture, and decide how you’d like to respond. Watching someone else’s life pass is always more fun; you do not wish to sit and realize that yours has just not gone the way you have planned.

I took it out and read the title. It was only one word. Magic. It looked interesting so I took it and sat back down on the couch. The first few chapters were not that interesting. History of magic and spells. The next few chapters talked about potions and herbs. But the last chapter caught my attention. It simply said: “Prophecies”. I flipped over to the last chapter and started reading. It was about prophecies that already happened. It was about who made those prophecies and what they meant to the supernatural world. Nothing useful to me. I needed to know about the prophecy that didn’t happen already.

I said as if I was sure. He snorted at me, clearly disapproving. "Don't be too confident, Miles, because we don't know how fate will play out. Isn't everything that happened to you with Zandy, unexpected? So expect the unexpected, Miles." She even raised an eyebrow at me as if to tell me to prepare for what might happen.
