She covered her nose and walked back into the house, pointing the camera inside. "Look. Miles has turned the house into a landfill. "I want to bring him back too, but look at how filthy he is. How am I supposed to bring him home like this?" I felt terribly wronged and muttered stiffly, "I'm not filthy." What can a five-year-old do? I've been dead for five years, and you still don't know. "Let me see Brother's house! I want to see!" A bright, lively voice came from the video. An eight-year-old boy in a little suit appeared on the screen, looking like a small prince.

Alistair's world crumbled. His beta turned on him, submitting testimony to the council. Jade Moonshadow was convicted and screamed as the guards dragged her away. Alistair asked to speak to me. "Denied," the council said. I heard about it later from Gideon. "Are you okay?" he asked. "I'm fine." "You don't look fine." "I look exactly how I feel. Nothing." The fellowship ended six months later. I graduated at the top of my class.

“Mabel, you didn’t.” Mabel lifted her glass. “I did.” Ava blinked once, twice, then took a slow sip of her drink. “Well, would you look at God testing my blood pressure this early in the weekend.” Natasha’s eyes swept the scene—rosé, laughter, aging beauty in motion—and landed on Ava. “You must be Ava St. James. The fifth chapter in Marcus’s ongoing anthology.” Delphine muttered, “And she must be the preface nobody read twice.”

"Take him away." The servants dragged me out, and she looked away quickly, like she couldn't bear to look at me anymore. Once I was out of sight, she brushed Connor's hand off her waist. "You've tortured him long enough. I think you should be satisfied now. This whole show ends tonight." Connor shrugged. "Whatever. I'm sick of this place anyway." Melissa exhaled in relief as she took out her phone, "Don't actually cut off that thing. Knock him out and send him to the hospital. When he wakes, tell him he's been in a coma for five years…"
