When Secrets Kill Novels & Stories

She got out the gun that she kept in her favourite jacket and aimed at the spot the key was supposed to go in. A touch on her shoulder made her turn around. Darral stood there with a small key in his hand and amusement on his face. "Your gun is not always a solution, March." She rolled her eyes and took the key from his hand. She jammed the key into its hole and twisted it. It made a pop sound and sprang up on it's own. Inside the little hidden box were magazines, cut outs and some pictures. Selena removed the pictures and Darral squatted next to her and took out the magazines.

“I asked about her and you!” Kaluna’s index finger pointed clearly at Rara who stood not far from him and Dewa. “Answer!” snapped Kaluna when Dewa remained stunned. “Today we’re supposed to be celebrating one year of our relationship, but you’re... celebrating by cheating on my friend?” To Kaluna’s astonishment, neither Dewa nor Rara denied her accusation at all. Did that mean the two of them had really been in a secret relationship behind her back? “You better be honest, Dewa.” Rara ventured to speak up.

SUMMARY I have a secret. I’m in love with my best friend, but I’ve never told her. Sharing feelings is right up there with all-time terrible things. Instead of saying it, I show her how I feel every day. I watch Big Brother with her. We have scary movie night. I hold her hair when she’s puking. That’s love in my books. Only…she’s not been the same recently, and I don’t know how to fix it. I hope she knows I'd do anything for her.

That was Anshuman’s voice. I gulped as I hid behind the sack of clothes and moved toward the private room. A few murmurs were heard, I suppose Neil and Krish were there with him, in all this! What I saw next did not allow me to breathe, I saw him, I saw my Ansh pointing a gun at someone. “You deserve to die,” I gasped.

After a night of drinking at a party, and her young daughter away at her grandmother’s house, Aurelia didn’t wake up when her room went up in flames. “Grayson,” Amber said. He sat down what had to be cold coffee by now and looked at her. “Amber? What is it?” “They’re dead Grayson. Lorenzo Sabin, Aurelia Stanford, Uriah DeMarco all of them are dead.” “What?” She showed him the screen shots she’d taken of each article in turn. She let him draw his own conclusions. “Okay, I’ll admit it seems like way more than a coincidence Amber.” “They were killed Grayson. The only people you can fully trust to keep secrets are dead ones. They were taken out on purpose.”

He chuckled, "Were you talking to Mike? Did you spill our secret?" Luke was undeniably striking. At school, he was an iceberg, cold and untouchable. But in private, he was warm and almost clingy. In the past, I'd have melted into his arms, blushing. Now I just stepped back, creating distance. "Didn't you want to keep us hidden?" I muttered. His eyes flickered as he caught the edge of my tone. Still, he pressed on with the question that always lingered. "You know we can't go public."

But the thug was nice to her, and he had a glib tongue. Six years later, one of the thug's rivals killed him. That left her with no way out, so she dumped her kid and came back alone to seek Gilbert's protection. However, before Joan could tell Gilbert about the truth she found, she was served with the papers, and she would leave with nothing. No matter how much of a ruckus she made, Gilbert and Diana never met with her again. That pushed her over the edge. In her despair and madness, she came to my anniversary and set everything on fire.

A bunch of unread messages. My stomach tightened. I called Derek back. No answer. I opened his texts. Ivy, please… we need to talk. I’m sorry about the other night. Something’s happened. I’m in trouble. They’re saying I killed my parents. They’re going to ruin me. Please don’t leave me too. There were voice notes. He sounded broken. I tried calling again. Nothing. I called the unknown number. Nothing. I panicked and ran straight to Aunt Linda’s room.

He just didn’t have the right door. I stared at those three lines for a long time. Then I looked at the clock. It was 2:17 in the morning. I thought about the folder and its eleven years of guarded secrets. I thought about what would happen when Daniel published the story, the Tao name splashed across headlines, and the massive fraud. The cover-up that started with four cold sentences and grew for fifteen years. Most readers would see the last name and make up their minds before they finish the second paragraph.

He twitched a few more times, and some of his release even landed on Garrett's pajamas. "You bastard!" For the first time, I saw in Garrett's eyes the look of a man who wanted to kill.
