He stood abruptly, his chair groaning against the floor, fists trembling at his sides. Luciano turned to face him fully now, jaw tight, eyes gleaming with fury. He looked ready to scream back. “And enough of your—” BANG. The table shook. The sound of flesh slamming against wood cracked through the room like a gunshot. Everyone’s head snapped to the far side of the table. Lucas. The gentle, harmless, soft-spoken Lucas who always smiled when the rest of them snarled. Lucas who they all kept on dismissing. Lucas who they all thought too tender to speak up.

"Well, if everyone's game, I'd hate to be the buzzkill. I'm in." They had no idea that the tables had turned. Now, they weren't the ones setting me up anymore. In this hand, I was going to make every single one of them taste the suffering I had endured in my previous life.

They tumbled down to the second floor and splashed into the garden pond. "You!" Sheila shot me an angry look, then quickly looked sad and pulled on Elliot's shirt. "Elliot! My presents!"
