He doesn't remember much more ever since he started drinking, including how he even got to his own bed. He grabs his phone, his head still banging, even harder from his shout. He goes straight to the entertainment news and notices a hot topic. It says "Clown meme" He clicks on it, praying earnestly that it is not related to him although his subconscious tells him otherwise. He clicks on it and staring back at him, is a picture of himself, moving away as clowns came near.

Her network, her beautifully crafted, military-grade digital fortress, was being flooded. Not by a hostile government or a rival hacker, but by millions of requests from a single source: The Global Brother-in-Law Fan Club’s online forum.

I inform him. I can't forget the humiliation that I faced that day, and in the several days after that, in a hurry. The media made a huge caricature out of me for assuming blindly that I would get the reward, and standing up even before the winner did. Different blogs keep using the videos of me standing and waiting to receive the award before it was given to Ashley to mock me. Only when I clicked on it, did I realize exactly why I was getting such a notification. First, it was that same blog page that was brought up in one of my meetings with the team members earlier this week. And then, the blog page had made another post. I recognized it because i vividly remember addressing the blogger as ‘bored’. “I must’ve turned on notifications for the page while abandoning the page that day” I muttered, my eyes moving to scan for where to turn off post’s notifications. It was only then did I realize that the post from that day had gotten extra reactions.

Desperation might’ve driven me here, but determination was what kept me going. My phone was still packed with notifications from all my social media platforms. I braced myself before opening them–like every other day–already knowing the internet had sunk its claws in me. My fall on the red carpet was now being used as a meme. A meme. Everyone was talking about it—laughing. Mocking. Who knew the wretched public hated me so much? I never thought I’d become a laughingstock or anything other than the queen I was… until now.
