Jaxon The glass is cold in my hand, condensation dripping onto the worn bar top as I stare at the amber liquid swirling inside. The bar is dimly lit, reeking of stale beer and old regrets. It’s the kind of place no one asks questions—a hole in the wall where people go to forget. Perfect. I’m trying to forget too. Except I can’t. I lift the glass to my lips, the whiskey burning as it goes down. It doesn’t help. Nothing does.

The patrons were usually respectful enough to keep and so I didn't think twice when I prepped my own drink, chaser, and fruit.

The burn is nourishing. “Totally out of pocket but whiskey,” she holds the glass up to her face, eye level. “Has become my new favourite thing. The history is very funny.”

“Thank you.” “What are you having?” I asked. She shrugged. “No idea. I told the bartender to give me something strong. Want some?” She presented her glass to me. I glanced at the glass in her hand, noting the amber liquid. Whiskey, maybe. “How many of those have you had?” “Don’t know,” she muttered, tilting the glass and downing the rest. “I already told you I’m not keeping count…” she slurred. I sighed. “Amber, how about we leave now? Looks like you’ve had plenty for one night.”

"I prefer whiskey" he coughed and set his glass down. I waved down our waiter and asked to bring a bottle of whiskey to the table. "You didn't have to order that. I can do without it" he insisted.
