I tugged the store door shut as I followed her down the street, wondering why she had gone completely mad, and if I myself had caused it. It took several hours for us to make it home, the conversation between us bare and simple, as though we could hardly wait to be free of one another. Which of course was true, I couldn’t stand being around my sister for more than a few hours, our foolish bickering always driving my mind towards anger. Something not one of us could allow, anger made us dangerous, to everyone. Mortal or immortal.

“Then, what the hell is it? You’ve been acting weird all morning.” I snapped my head up. “I’ve not been acting weird.” “Okay. Then … strange.” Greer let out an exasperated breath. “What’s going on? This was good news and I didn’t want to create any misunderstanding because somehow it looked like I was angry at the news of his parents being alive when I thought they were gone like mine. I let this new thought sit in properly. It wasn’t a good idea letting his sister think I was angry that they existed. I don’t think I want them to have such image about me.
